BERNARD LORD - OPEN THOSE GATES!!!!

The Lord Government seems to have a lot of problems lately with Environment issues such as in Shediac, LNG and there’s another huge one coming just around the corner.

That issue is the Causeway in Moncton.

That destruction of the environment project should be eliminated.

There’s one problemo! There’s new owners of homes located behind the causeway.

Someone decided to built some homes in that area and benefited from the newly man made property.

Now? The plan was to build homes around a man lake behind the causeway!

Now? One side has new homes with a nice lake and the other is just mud.

The tidal bore still comes around but it’s very small!

It’s not like I remembered of the giant wave when I was a kid.

As a matter of Fact? I was fishing in the chocolate river in the early 70s.

I jumped on a rock and began fishing.

The river was low and I was waiting for the giant wave to come around the corner and that’s exactly what happened.

I turned my head for a few minutes and I noticed the giant wave coming.

mon6

I slipped and didn’t quite make it but I guess that I made it because I’m still here.

But it was a close one and that wave just went by. These days, the wave is much smaller!

mon4

It was in the days that this bridge was still around.

We used to call it le pont du College.

In the early 70s, construction began and it was promise that one side of the causeway will be homes like in Moncton but this never happen.

pic8

It totally destroyed the beauty of the river.

So if the Lord Government wants to know if the river can come back after years of being blocked?

Well? Open those gates at Memramcook and see what will happen?

Every instance, I met then Premier Frank McKenna, I would always bring up the issue of the causeway but nothing ever happened!

All they had is study after studies on this issue.

pic7

I don’t believe that the gates will ever be open because it will cost too much money!

pic3

We are all going to die and will be long gone but our future generations will asked themselves? What were these people thinking? It’s a terrible site and it’s going to get wrost!

pic6

I always told anyone will listen that of all the place to live? Fredericton is the best! You have a nice giant River going throught the City with a nice view around.

carleton3

In Moncton? All you have is had mud to look at! It’s going to get wrost!!!

I say- Let the Petticidiac River be free to flow freely!!!!

pic5

Never mind the cost!!! Get the river to its original beauty!!!!

Does anyone know why LNG is no good for Charlotte county, and State for Maine, but Lord Government is giving Irving $125 Million tax break to have it in Saint John.
It looks it will another environmental devastation.

About 1000 people from the St. Andrews area and Downeast, Me., attended an anti-LNG rally in St. Andrews Monday night. Two U.S. companies want to build liquefied natural gas import terminals on the Maine shore, near St. Andrews.

Bernard Lord builds walls and gates and not open them. He built a wall at the enterance of the legislature, opposition office, that you cannot go in literally and metaphorically. He built a wall to his office and then that was not enough and he built a wall at the entrance of Centennial Building in the name of security. Same about other government buildings. There is a wall around him and his government that people of New Brunswick cannot penetrate. No wonder Mr. Wilson, Auditor General, talks about all that secrecey of Lord Government.

Lord will not tear down those walls let the people of this Province tear down those walls.

Welcome to 2005 and the age of terrorism and security, not only for politicians but for employees. The type of security established isn't out of line with what other provinces do, is still pretty low-key, and was long overdue. I didn't hear Shawn Graham or Elizabeth Weir complain.

Sorry folks, those days that you could walk into the premier's office without an appointment are gone. You have to lock up your cars and houses and there needs to be reasonable security for people who are potential targets. I think given the comments by some on this site we can agree Lord needs a reasonable amount of security. Checking who is coming into the Centennial Building, Leg, or opposition offices is no big deal unless you have a reason for not wanting to be checked. If that's the case, I'm glad you were checked out.

Yeah right. Terrorist are going to come to Fredericton to attack. One excuse given was that some disgruntled spouses of the employees were coming in and harassing their spouces or ex-spouces. So make up your mind for reason for walls.

As a matter of fact when demonstrators against hospital closure were locked out Shawn Graham, Elizabeth Weir and other opposition MLAs did object to the lock out. The psychological barries which Lord has built, hundreds of citizens have objected if you read newspapers. However, Spinks you are so busy with your flip-flops that you have no time for anything else.

With his flip flops Spinks must get lot of exercise. May be he should start a gyme of flip flops. Obesity is a problem, you know.

And the smear train keeps rolling on......

Still waiting for those flip-flop examples anonymous.

LOOKS SOMEONE IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING THE TOPIC. IS THAT ON PURPOSE. WHAT ABOUT LNG IN SAINT JOHN???

Does anyone know why LNG is no good for Charlotte county, and State of Maine, but Lord Government is giving Irving $125 Million tax break to have it in Saint John.
It looks it will be another environmental devastation.

3:37, you're funny! "Someone" is changing the topic? You did, lol! Charles wrote about the Petitcodiac River, and you changed the topic to LNG.

I disagree with Spinks on almost everything, but not here. Government buildings need security systems. The pathological way in which one or more posters here use every topic as an excuse to express hatred for Bernard Lord pretty much proves the point. (For the record, I disagree with Lord on most everything, too. But the way some people demonize him, as they did McKenna before him, and Hatfield and LJR before McKenna, is downright scary.

To be fair the person on LNG Charles did talk about LNG in his post.
People who are hurt such as by hospital closure do speak against Lord. I do not hate the guy as a person but I have no use for his policies and actions on lot of issues.

Security is one issue but not meeting with the people of NB is totally different. Caraquet and Upper Saint John River Valley people will tell you that.

Get with the program people!

The reason LNG is not good for St. Andrews is that there is a bunch of wealthy people living in the area. Summer homes!! They don't want bombs in their back yards or dirty old tankers spoiling their view or fouling their water.

Now Saint John. That's a different kettle of fish. Mostly serfs and peons and the harbour is full of sewerage and surrounding area is full of dirty stinky industry. No money! No power! Stick it to emmmmmmmm!

Saint Johnners are so complacent that Norm McIrving has made another executive decision that Bernie doesn't need to pay 1/3 for harbour cleanup! He'll get it from the peasants!! LOL

Charlie:

Your a little late getting on the Peticodiac band wagon.

The Riverkeepers Daniel Leblanc (is he your cousin?) have been beating that dead horse for over 35 years!

Exposure is good! Keep it up! Every little bit helps.

Be careful walking the streets of Moncton though! Some of those homeowners on that polluted lake Peticodiac might put a hit out on you! I hear they don't like mud flats.

Canadians are catching on with Bernie Lord that what a f phony he is. Their choice to replace Harper is Peter McKay and not Bernie. Peter will make a great leader. He is down to earth and he has that common touch.

Yes some are unhappy that Peter joined Reform Party despite that he said he won't. May be it was a right move. Time will tell.

Does this Lord guy ever talk from both sides of his mouth. He says LNG is not good for St.Andrews and Charlotte County. He says it will be deterimental to environment. Sooooo LNG is not deterimental to the environment of Saint John. What a f****ing hypocrite? If that does not piss you off I do not know what will. What Lord-Lovers have to say now? People in Saint John are less equal than people in St. Andrews?

I am far from being late on this one and Daniel must be a distant cousin. I wrote many letters to the editor about this issue around 10 to 15 years ago and I also wrote about this issue in my column! I also spoke on this issue on talk shows....But it is the first time that I wrote about this issue in this blog!!!! You are right! I need body guards when I go to Moncton!!!!

Your point is a good one and I said the same statement tonight to a couple of bureaucrats! Just watch the language...merci!!!!
