NEW BRUNSWICK FAMILY SERVICES - THEY WISH TO STOP CHARLES'S BLOG????

-Yeah, Friday was one of those days!!!

I left the Legislature and walked into the Library to write my latest blog.

Charles 04_07_05 108

I noticed that my eye glasses were missing from my little pouch. I told a person to hold the computer for me and I’ll be right back!

I was mad at myself because I always bring my glasses with me.

I noticed a little black item on the sidewalk from far away! Once I came closer, it wasn’t my glasses.

I continued and behold? I found my eye glasses but it wasn’t a pretty sight.

They were on the ground on Regent Street.

700

So you outsiders, Regent street is one of the busiest street in the Capital.

I never bothered to open my case because I knew that my glasses were history!!!

I felt like a tone of bricks were on my shoulders.

It was around 3:30pm and close by was the office of Family Services.

500

I walked in and asked for my case worker - Erma Jones.

I saw her the day before and we had a little meeting outside. I liked it that way because there were more privacy than the open cubicles system in Fredericton.

This is where the staff from Family Services degrades the welfare recipients!!!!

In a matter of minutes, she came over to see me. I told her that I wanted to chat with her outside for a minute.

She told me that she wasn’t allowed to do this.

Maybe she was told by her boss never to meet the welfare clients outside.

I said- Ohhhh,,,no!!!! Not the open cubicles policy again???

Once in room six, I told Erma Jones that I had a major problem!!!

I bet she was thinking -I could have told you this a long time ago Charles!

I repeated myself that I had a problem!!!

Once again? She asked me -What’s the problem?

I took my case and put it on the counter.

pic5

All the pieces of my eye glasses spread before her.

She immediately asked me - When did I get those glasses?

I told her – I got them from last year. She told me that I will have to wait till April of next year for a new pair.

You see? That’s what the staff at Family Serviced do!

P1010073

They give you news like this in the open cubicles!

Well? Trust!!! I COMPLETY LOST IT!!!

I told the staff worker that it’s the open cubicles policy they want?

That’s what you’re going to get!!!

You could have heard me around 2 miles away.

I was furious!!!

I shouted - YOU PEOPLE FROM THE GOVERNMENT TREAT PEOPLE WITH ADHD AS CLOSE TO MENTAL RETARDATION BECAUSE OF THAT DECISION BY THOSE RACIST MEMBERS OF THE NEW BRUNSWICK HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AND NOW YOU TELL ME THAT I WON’T BE ABLE TO READ UNTIL NEXT YEAR????

I was out of control and those open Cubicles didn’t help the situation!

I am surprise that the cops weren’t called in?

I told Erma Jones that I will be out front with a blowhorn Monday morning because ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!

These case workers are like robots!!!! No emotional feeling no nothing!!!!

They just go by the policies and they just don’t care of the way they will treat its recipients!

I told the robot case worker that I’ll be out front Monday morning with a blowhorn denouncing Family Services of the way they treat its recipients.

Before I left, I quickly grabbed my camera from my pouch.

She asked - What are you doing???

Maybe she believed that I was going for a 38???

She quickly ran in the back so I wouldn’t take her picture.

Before I left she asked me to clean my mess!

I shouted at her - Hey??? That’s the evidence!!! Go get your supervisor and show her my glasses and I left the building.

With all the excitement I forgot something so I went back at the counter and sure enough there was her supervisor looking over the situation.

I never said a word!

That evening, I bumped into Brad Green and told him what happen?

He told me that it’s an accident so there should be any problem?

Why are the staff at Family Services so cruel to the less fortunate?

I went to the regent street store where I got my glasses and they told me that my eye glasses cost around $200.00.

The word spread around and a few offered me their eye glasses. I refuse them because it would only damage my eyes.

The sad part is that I attended Church Sunday and I couldn’t follow the messe because I couldn’t read the booklet.

P1010022

Maybe Family Services don’t believe that the poor should attend church?

It was an accident!

I told my priest- I always believe there’s a reason for everyting but why did my glasses had to fall on Regent Street and not on the sidewalk? Why?...Why???....Why????

700

Well? I have a new battle in my hands and lets see what’s going to happen? I can’t read the newspapers or magazines!

If you believe my grammar was bad in the past? Wait you read them in the future?

Who ran over my glasses?

Could it be that it was a bureaucrat who saw them falling on the street and quickly ran over them so I will not be able to read or
write?

I’m writing this update in my computer were I can set the system up with huge letters!

Only with Charlie!!!! What the hell is going to happen next in my life????

I backed off from protesting with a blowhorn! I’m a blogger and they way of communicating with the public is fine with me. I will confront every elected official and bureaucrats who I come across with about my story!

I don’t have the money so what else am I suppose to do?

I know…many of you will say- GET A JOB!!!!!!

I will continue to write and talk about this issue until the poor are treated with respect!!!

Maybe they don't want to give me the glasses because they want this blog shut down!!!! Who knows????

My head hurts from working on this blog without my glasses!!!! I got to go outside!!!!

Your story makes the case for open cubicles. If there are other FCS clients like you, who scream at the staff who are doing their jobs, they need open cubicles to feel safe. How do you think a woman feels when she's alone with a man and he starts screaming at her? Threatened, I bet.

And even if you were right (which you're not) to think the Human Rights Commission is racist or that its disposition of your case means they think ADHD is "close to mental retardation", what does that have to do with the FCS policy on how often welfare recipients get free glasses?

I think the FCS policy is wrong, if it won't allow for replacement when glasses are broken accidentally, but I think you're wrong to treat the lady the way you did. You owe her an apology for your abusive behaviour.

Unfortunately the above poster is right, not about all human rights commission but about why there are open cubicles. Who knows what could happen in a private office? It's the people who set policy that are the problem, the woman you talked to has no way of making any of those decisions-she's a 'robot' because she has a family to feed, that's hardly her fault. As for people, they are all different in different situations, no doubt many have no respect for the poor, but I don't think the 'front line workers' are like that, at least not all the time.

Nah Charlie wouldnt apply for work at those place or any other place.
He has a good excuse that he cant work.
Someone suposably told him that people with add are close to mental retardation. I bet nobody told him that. Its only a excuse not to work.
most people with add, adhd do work and contribute to the economy.
But Charles uses the excuse that he is a retard and cant work.
Even if he did find a job he wouldnt be able to keep it because he will get fired because of his loud mouth.
GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUTT AND GO LOOK FOR A JOB AND STOP LIVING OFF OUR TAX DOLLAR !!
I HOPE YOU WALK IN A TELEPHONE POLE.

In Dieppe the irving companies have more french workers then english workers.
Just because 1 person told you that no frogs or niggers should work for irving doesnt mean nothing.
Just like your opinion. it means nothing.
GET A JOB!!!

Charles,
Some of the folks on this blog have a valid point. You seem to think that if you "can't" work for the Irvings, then there are no jobs to be had. This is simply not the case. Granted, not all jobs are glamorous, but I wouldn't think that living off the government and tax-payers feels all that glamorous either.

I applaud that you help at the soup kitchen and fight for what you think is right. However, people can have causes, crusades and help people while still contributing to society financially. By this I mean contribute by paying your own way with a job and leaving the government subsidized benefits for those who truly need it.

You complain about how the government gives so little in welfare and how they won't replace glasses and such - but the bottom line is that you'd rather live with this than go out and earn a day's wage.

You say that people don't treat the poor with respect. This may be true in many cases, but I would suggest that it is people like you who choose not to work, who choose this path and choose to constantly bite the hand that feeds you that helps propogate this disrespect.

Welfare would be looked on much more favourably if there wasn't a constant stigma of laziness and "cheating the system" attached to it. This stigma is borne out of people like you who choose to not work and live off the system.

In the area of poverty, you're part of the problem and not a voice for the solution.

Just my 0.02.

This latest one is CLASSIC! A provincial employee was driving along Regent St and was lucky enough to see Charles drop his glasses. The "evil bureaucrat" realizes this is his chance to destroy the revolution by robbing Charles of his sight and thus killing the blog - part of the Master Plan!

The bureaucrat, unable to believe his luck, drives over the glasses... backs up over them again... repeats three or four times and then drives off.. safe in the knowledge he's thwarted the malcontent Charles Leblanc!!!

Wow - I love your conspiracy theories, Charlie - always good for a laugh. The best part is - I think you really believe these theories of yours. I would love to get inside your head for an afternoon - what a roller coaster of self-delusion and grandeur that would be!!!!

The above comments remind me of that "This hour has 22 minutes" sketch from years ago:
"there's jobs out there, like putting up fences...and taking down fences". Do people have any idea how many apply for those jobs?

That was joke about the bureaucrat running over the glasses, although yelling at the lady at family services doesn't help. From their point of view people could keep losing glasses and coming in for replacements.

However, I find it quite hysterical to read all the posts above. Why are these people here reading? And posting? With all the websites in all the world and the millions of things you could be doing, why would somebody be reading the remarks of somebody they clearly don't even respect?

Charles provides a valuable service, to my mind far more valuable than most Irving employees, or government bureaucrats (of which more have just been hired), or the 'journalists' out there. It isn't Charles fault we live in a society where only certain activities result in a living wage. If WE would rather let Irving's accumulate billions than have a decent standard of living, working or not, that's our fault.

If your eyesight is so bad that you cant read or write on the computer or read the sermon in church then...
WHY IS THERE A BUNCH OF PICTURES ON THIS SITE (in the archives) OF YOU READING,WRITING AND OF YOU ON THE COMPUTER WITH NO GLASSES?

You want people to say ahh poor charles. he cant read or write. He cant see without his glasses.
boo hooo snif snif
All you want is attention.
I dont think there are too many pictures of you with your reading glasses on this site.

were paying for the money your getting from welfare.
All your prescription are payed for by us, you get a free pair of glasses every year. were even paying for your cigarettes.
I get up in the morning and go to work to support bums like you.
I have to pay for my glasses and my prescriptions.

The Welfare system should force people like you who are fully capable of working to go look for work and show proof that you applied for at least a few jobs every day.
if you didnt and are capable of working then you should be on the street panhandling.
We shouldnt have to have money deducted off our hard earned money
to suport lazy bums like you.

And why should we have to pay more of our hard earned money so you dont have to go to open cubicles?
Get off your lazy butt and go look for work ya bum
Your a real joke Charley!

You were doing well. You are making a contribution, Charlie but then you fall in this self-pity trap every so often. Concentrate on issues rather than me, me, and I, I.

Blogger Charles LeBlanc said...

hey??? I just blog and move and let you people take over and yes there will be i i i ,,,lol

Anonymous said...

This is from a well-wisher. When you start your self-pity stuff you rub lot of people the wrong way and hurt your credibility. Rest,it is a free country and if you are determined to screw your own contributions then that is your right.

Your original postion against abuse of prescription drugs and dangers of VLTs and indifference of Lord Government raises your profile. Lot of people are pissed with Bernard Lord and that brings them here. I am sure you noticed that too. That can be your main magnet to rally people around. Go for it.

This is a BLOG people, not a news outlet, not a newspaper or journal. It's ONE GUY. You get more news here than you get from those pinheads at global, cbc, or irving and YOU don't pay him a penny. It must be nice to have that job and be able to afford glasses, not everybody has that luxury. Fortunately, those people at least have charles to give them some voice.
