In the past, it took a lot of thinking for my person of the week but not this time.
I wish to say un gros Merci Beaucoup to Bernard Richard on behalf of the over 40,000 kids in this province who are force on Ritalin.
Many of them will commit suicide or they will end up on heavy drugs and many of them will die.
Does Bernard Lord care? Of course not! The drugging and the killing of our children will continue till October 15th, 2007!!! Good work Bernard Richard!!!!

He's gone. One of the more charming people who frequent this blog used the word "retarded" in attacking him. And I don't mean in a neutral sense, as in "the sandbags retarded the course of thje flood waters". I mean the pejorative sense, as in "if you disagree with me, you're retarded" or "your ideas are retarded". Meaning, of course, fundamentally deficient. It's an insult, a fighting word used to wound, and it demeans the speaker, the target, and mentally challenged people generally.
I realize that for most of the people around here, it's ok to use the word in that sense. Heck, Charles does it routinely: he never says "the Human Rights Commission ruling means they think I'm mentally disabled". He says "the Human Rights Commission says I'm close to mental retardation". For me, though, and for many others, it's unacceptable. I have worked with mentally challenged people, and it's a vile practice.
Of course, many people here will be happy to see Spinks gone. I thought he was way off base most of the time, but I was usually entertained by him challenging the hive mind mentality that some of the frequent posters here have.

i have a nephew who was on the medication since young age he's now in heavy drugs threathened to kill his family has destroyed the home rcmp were involve has been restrain fromthe family with no contact he is now 21years old with no jobs living with relatives.Its a sin for the child to be hooked on the drugs due to the medication

Yes, it is very sad and I heard those emotional stories all the time. What people must understand is that on the very first instance a child takes that first pill? He is destroyed for life because his friends will call him stupid or idiot because he's on Ritalin but the very scary part is this. I landed a little job last week. I was setting up some staging. The workers asked me why I was protesting in a tent. I told my fellow workers that the job I'm doing? Lets say that everyone is paid 10 bucks an hour? A decision by the New Brunswick Human Rights commission that because I have ADHD and on Ritalin? I should be paid at a lower scale. This is a true sad fact in New Brunswick and I will continue to fight this very discriminated decision till the end of times. These kids are screwed for life and the chances are that they will commit suicide at a later stage and die on alcohol or drugs! Very sad indeed and thanks for sharing your story. I wish more people would do the same!
