That's a nasty looking new vehicle, they have. It looks like it belong in a circus. Have you notice it's not ATV anymore, it's CTV. Guess CTV Toronto didn't want us poor maritimers to have an identity. It won't affect their ratings because frankly they have no honest competition. Too bad really. Competition keeps everyone honest. I know the pro-CBC types will come in and say they do have competition but the ratings say otherwise and that's what the advertisers look at.
It's still competition even if nobody uses it, and television of course has competition from radio and newspapers. If there's two stores on a street and everyone goes to one, that doesn't mean they have no competition.
We don't have open and objective news in Saint John, NB. The paper is very BIAS! The TV news gives Saint John the 2 minute rule if that on most nights. When we lost Saint John local news we lost alot. Check the paper today. You will see the NDP leader who states she is not running and Saddam get colour ink and profile pictures. Mr. Dohery who is running get no front page picture and a small article that continues on another page with a black and white picture. This will continue I'm sure with the byelection. But take note in bold head lines Medical training in Saint John by 2007. Premier reiterates city's "wish list". All candidates deserve the same coverage as Hooten has been getting with full page coverage. Unfortunately someone, brainless no doubt, vandalised someone's property and egged and painted vehicles. That made it on the front page and in color and the person think it is the concern citizens for fair taxation. This group has remained strong towards fair taxes- this vandalism only brings negative attention. This is what some people would like to quiet down the group. Hope they catch who ever did this because no one would agree to this kind of action. We are all individuals and who knows how this happen. We all question who gains more positive coverage from this?
Sorry 1:21 you are correct, I should have said not competitive as opposed to no competition. CBC exists and produces a product, superior in their loyal viewers eyes (about 6000 before the lockout) but obviously not worth watching to all of the people who tune in ATV (sorry CTV) and Global every night (combined about 140,000 viewers in NB). That's why you see layoffs and reporters carrying their own gear and trying to be cameramen at the privates. Their bosses don't care because it costs less and it hasn't hurt their ratings. CBC should be going out and trying to figure out how they can get more viewers BECAUSE we all pay for them and they should produce a superior product that more people want to watch. Obviously they don't. We can argue about whether it is superior or not but the bottom line is the majority of viewers don't think it is. Perception can become reality.
Sorry for the rant. Charles and long time readers are familiar about my concerns with CBC. On a positive note, nice to have CBC radio and the Internet news back. TV News however is still looking dismal.

LEFT LAST FRIDAY TO GO TO SUN TV NET WORK...PROMISING ON HER FAREWELL TO HOOK HER PARENTS UP TO A SATELLITYE SO THEY COULD KEEP IN TOUCH AND WATCH HER!!!!!TO WATCH THE BEST NETWORK, CATCH GLOBAL, THE BEST REPORTER ON THE NEWS THIS YEAR IS KEVIN NEWMAN....SAINT JOHN LNG PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED HIM TO COME HER TO GET THEIR MESSAGE OUT, AS HE GETS TO THE BOTTOM OF EVERY STOREY!!!!
