WHY WAS TIM SMITH STOP AT THE DOOR BY BERNARD LORD'S STAFF????

Bernard Lord at his best or worst?

By-election
cry baby
HOOTEN1
Lord--book

His party held a coronation for Michelle Hooten two evenings ago and the place was full with 150 people.

From what I saw on television?

Many were P.C. bureaucrats from the Capital.

206

I guess only the elites were allowed at this gathering.

Tim Smith showed up and he was stopped in his tracks right at the door.

He was told that he wasn’t invited in the room so therefore they wouldn’t let him get in there.

I just couldn’t believe it!

There’s this individual who walks from his house to attend a P.C. gathering were he has to listen to a lot of B.S. but he couldn’t get through the doors!

SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!!

What happen to our democratic system????

Tim Smith always handled himself like a gentleman so what’s with the big changes?

For you newcomers, you can listen to Tim Smith interview at

target="_blank">Charles
Blog

This was the first time that he ever held an interview with the media and it was very emotional.

Was he a security risk? You tell me?

Is this a way for Bernard Lord to privatizes Democracy????

I did not see Tim or he would have got in. The only people who were stopped were those with the group holding signs against the LNG project. Some of these people got inside and tried to upset the meeting. That is not what a nomination meeting is for. Protesters had to stay outside.

That is not true. People not from any group and who even lived in the area were not aloud in. They were not important enough for them. Check around and ask. Besides some of those so called LNG protesters are in that riding.

Hooton committed the first blunder of her compaign. She invited Lord to compaign with her. Bernard Lord and his buddies still do not get it that he is a wimp and people do not have much use for him.

Telegraph may have fancy pictures of Hooton but that is not going to help. By rendering Dr. Doherty as an underdog will only help his candidacy. Down with these stupid tactics.

With all the respect to Ms. Hooton but so far she is looking more like a bimbo than a serious candidate.

Spinks said...

Um, just because you say "with respect" doesn't mean it's okay in the same sentence to call someone a "bimbo". You're certianly entitled to your opinion but the wordo "bimbo" isn't very respectful. It's a pretty chauvanistic thing to say.

As for not letting Tim in? I dunno. As long as there was room, he wasn't carrying placards and was respectful during the meeting and let the meeting's agenda go unhindered, I don't see why he wasn't let in UNLESS the meeting was only open to members of the party and sometimes media which nomination meetigs usually are. But I don't know the dynamics so maybe Tim got a raw deal. Maybe not. Just be aware that there are often lots of factors...or Tim just got screwed over. That too is possible.

Notice the news paper today, where are the full page write ups and huge colour pictures for Dr. Doherty. Starts with a small article on one page and continues to a black and white picture on the another page. Hooten had full coverage in colour. Notice Sadamm and NDP {not running} has colour pictures. Also the headline reads "Medical Training in Saint John by 2007" on front page. There was alot of news people there last night but no coverage today.

My my my, when will you all learn? Just because you WANT to come to an event, doesn't mean it's open to the public. I was there that night, and all of you could have been too....you just have to be a party member, and willing to conduct yourself in an orderly manner. Pretty easy huh?

In fact if you want to make change, I suggest that you sign up for the PC Party and join the winning team! After all, you're either just complaining, or you're trying to make NB better, your choice.

Is it possible that someone got into my computer? I cannot have access to my email or the flickr account? Once I write my username and password, it just tells me to retry?

9:50 AM one can see your desperation but it ain't going to happen. You have no winning team. It is downhill from here on.

As far as far allowing a person in a meeting you do not have to be member of the party. P.C.s go to Liberal meetings and vice versa. Orderly conduct is indeed requirement. Lord and handlers are parnoid. They just do not like people.

Spinks said...

To 10:27 and 9:50. Come back Nov. 14. One of you is right.

As for going into private meetinsg and nomination meetings are, the Liberals have limited people from their meetings too. Probably less so though because just about everyone in NB is a card carrying Liberal. That's why this past weekend the Liberals wanted to start charging for memberships to streamline and clean up their list. It's a mess.

Anonymous said...

I believe only time they check your cards when you vote otherwise there is no restrictions to attend such meetings. Lord and handlers are completely parnoid. It won't be long that no one will attend a meeting where this wimp is.

Blogger Charles LeBlanc said...

no....it's my keyboard...I check it from another computer and everything is ok.....needs a clean up!!!!

This picture on the top reminds me of Disco Dic as Richard Hatfield was known that way. He used to go to Montreal and other places for disco. History repeats itself. We all know what happened to Richard Hatfield in 1987. Same fate is waiting Disco Bernie.

I was at the Liberal event last night and I stated I was not a member of any party and many others just walked in it was open to anyone becuse I saw a PC snooping. Anyways Hooten as a Deputy Mayor has never been able to relate to average taxpayer. I tried to carry on a converstion and if you ask her about hot topics she doesnot want to answer. I don't think some people understand, just give it a shot and she will not give you the time of day. She have to change because harder questions are coming her way in open public form I hope.

I was at the Liberal meeting last night and was very proud to br there. Very impressed with Dr. Dohery and Shawn Graham, 13 MLA's and ordinary citizens concerned about the city of Saint John. Some of us are so concerned and disappointed of how we have been treated by Lord in Saint John that even if we don't live in the riding we want to help. There are people who won't give up trying to get people to vote. That is our ownly say.

There's often an attempt on this site to write off people that the writers don't like. That's fine but obviously Hooten did something right because she received the most votes for council. Will she win? Who knows? But to completely write her off is presumptious. I can assure you that no matter what they say publicly the NDP and Liberals are taking her seriously.

Hi Charles

I went last night at Liberal nomination meeting. At 53 years of age this is the very first time in my life. I don't live in the riding area that is up for by-election, but I am fed up with the Lord government. I have always voted for the person and gave Lord a chance the first term but voted differently next time. I still believe in the person who best needs a chance to prove what they can do and if they don't perform and listen to the people. My vote is the only way to get rid of them. It still amazes me how little common sense voters have and vote for" the Devil They Know instead of the Devil They Don't Know". Another one "also my family and friends have always voted a party and that is all I have ever done". Grow up and have a mind of your own and take a chance, new people need chances too.

Hooten will not be" New" it will be more of the" Lord Government" and only give him the impression that we are happy and satisfied with all that he has done or should I say not done! Since when does he care for the the ordinary citizens and struggling taxpayers. He was the one that stated" we can afford to pay higher insurance rates, gas, fuel and energy increases". He doesnot know enough to know what the people of Saint John needs let alone what they want. Just listen to all the announcements and the promises the Lord Government will be making.

Remember the insurance premiums are still high, also the gas prices are higher in Saint John then in most areas. Saint John is the area that has all the health risks and high cancer rates and the area where we have the billionaires refining the gas. Saint John wanted fair taxation and also be treated with some respect. Now it is time to help the middle class and working poor too, we can't be holding up the fort when big business have the advantage over small business. People who are at risk can't speak up because believe me, there will hell to pay. The citizens have been smoothered long enough and have to speak up at the polls and turn up and let them hear it loud and clear " No More"! This is the only say we have, protesting is great but the bottom line is they don't listen to the people. Go and vote if you live in the riding, PLEASE.

Sorry but I feel very strongly that we can't take it anymore.

Yes I must make a ststement about the last civic election. It was brought out that people could vote seversl times and that is what happen, several people had books with same names in each book and sometimes they didnot cross names off when people already voted. First time for the computer system does not mean it was a fair and open vote. It is still not too late to investigate. Unless the hid there tracks already.

In response to Spinks (welcome back, by the way!):

I'm not a card-carrying member of any party, but I love politics, and have been to many nomination meetings for both major parties. I've never been asked who I was, let alone denied access. You have to be a member to vote, but not to attend. Keeping people out because you don't think they support you is cowardly.

My favourite nomination conventions, in terms of fun, were the ones the year CUPE was protesting McKenna's wage freezes. They showed up at every meeting, in the dozens or hundreds, and they brought plcards and shouted and chanted. They were allowed in, did their thing, and then someone would get up and say, we've heard you, now let others be heard, please. And so it went.

Why not allow protesters in? And especially quiet respectful ones like Tim Smith? Sad.

(I do think party conventions are a different story. At those, if you're not an elected delegate, you have to pay an observer fee to get in. Even then, everyone who pays ought to get in. I've seen elected Tories at Liberal conventions and elected Liberals at PC ones.)

"Saint John is the area that has all the health risks and high cancer rates and the area.." 11:55 AM you know why? Because of all kinds of pollution. Lord is going to add LNG to that. May be in this case you will not suffer it will be a quick death in case of a fire at LNG terminal, God forbid. It is a disaster and Lord is giving away $125 million in tax break for LNG.

As far as Hooton is concerned we need an MLA and not a party girl. P.C's have one already, Margaret-Ann Blaney who thinks she is a sex-symbol. We need a person who will work for people and not a sex-symbol.

Enough is enough. Down with Lord.

Spinks said...

12:05pm - yeah you're probably right. I guess I'm thinking more along the voting. Letting protestors in with placards? I wouldn't because it can get pretty nasty sometimes. It could be fine but why chance it? That's my opinion. However not letting someone in because they're a protestor with no sign. Yeah that's kind of dumb. Probably someone who was a little overzealous. I'd hate to paint the whole organization with that brush without having the full story though, but and this is a big but if Lord himself said "don't let that guy in", I don't think that's right but I doubt that was the case. Though I wasn't there so I don't know the dynamics that were in place. Was it a small room? Were people told it was only for members? I don't know. I'm certainly open minded enough to recognize those could have been the case or as someone said that Lord's handlers were paranoid. All are possible. Wasn't there, don't know but lots of people posting here weren't there so I'll chuck my 2 cents in anyway.

Anonymous said...

I am not sure why someone has to be an apologist for Lord Government. This is not the first time it has happened. It happened few times durig 2003 election. Lord thinks he is an emperor and his handlers ( courtiers) act accordingly. He does not have to utter the words "Do not let that guy in".
Lord behaved the same way when there were demonstrators in Fredericton. In the name of security people were shut out. Legislature is supposed to be people's house. Now it houses Bernard Lord only. It is pathetic.

This picture and characters have problem. The picture sometimes does not show up and you have to try many times.

Oh! Berard Lord and crowd are not racist. It is public knowledge that they are. Do I need to say more? Many excuses to keep public out. That has been the pattern of Lord government. He shall be out soon, himself.

Anonymous said...

Just because your party had the worst immigration strategy ever doesn't mean that the Lord government is racist. Look back to your own party and you will see. It's funny who is writing these letters all come from the opposition. Keep up the good work C.B. . LOL

Anonymous said...

Well I guess you don't know what you are talking about he is not the only native!!!!!!!!!! And he was not racist I don't know where you get that?? Just another scare tatic from you guys to try to gain power, but guess what you are not going in so you can stay in the opposition office for as long as i care.

Anonymous said...

We do not need show girl for an MLA. We need real MLA from Saint John Harbour.

Anonymous said...

We have one and we'll be Rooten for Hooten

Anonymous said...

If they did not make racist remarks then why there was a need for a session on sensitivity. They needed that because they were not getting along with their wives or spouses or what?? They needed sensitivity training because they are racist. They need lot more such sessions before they should be allowed to run again.

For those of you who might be interested-I went down to Saint John High School to ask if I could go in and hear what Ms.Hooten had to offer for my area and to get an honest feel for what both sides were offering and or had on the table.

As I started to enter I was told by Mr.Jay Chang And Mr.Idee(????), (sorry I can't recall his last name at this moment),,Listen Tim you know that we both think highly of you and that your a good person but for this one we have to decline on letting you go in,anything else you know we would definitly do it for you but just not this one.
Idee then proceeded to pull out his wallet and flash his Conservative member card to everyone that was there and said--See this,if you do not have one you don't get in.
He also went on to tell me that this meeting is private and for members only, To which I replied----
So what you are saying to me is your party is holding a Private meeting in a Public building of which belongs to the tax payers and is in my riding?? and all I want to do is hear from both sides on the issues at hand to see what the differences might be from one party to the next.

To which he once again replied,Tim anything else just not this one I'm sorry and at that I thanked him, shook his hand and left.

Oh one last thing I went there with NO signs,No hand-outs,nothing of any kind just myself to be an observer.

You know what makes me laugh the most? That you are making fun of Hooton when you guys tried to recruit her and she said no. So now you have to critisize, last week she was great this week you make fun. This is what your oppositon has done.. CRITISIZE that is the only word you know get C.B. to answer that one for you

302 I'm sorry you did not do your homework the Liberals held their biennual last weekend and it was said that in fact NO ONE from the Liberal Party offered Mrs.Hooten any such deal of any kind for any reason at any time.
And that question has been put to her many times since on why she said they in fact approached her and she has NO comment.

Anonymous said...

I did do my homework and yes you wanted her but you couldn't have her. The C.B. stands for the writer in the OPPOSITION office and now you know who he is right? They fired 5 people who were born and raised in N.B. payed taxes all there life to bring him in from Ontario.

Spinks, your this nick theory is dead wrong. You say people will not make pejorative remarks if they have nicks. They have proven you dead wrong. When Charles removed "anonymous" these guy ruled the site.

I have seen some of the best comments come from anonymous posters. May be it is important to them to remain anonymous because of their certain situation. So stop harping about it.
