DID BERNARD LORD SAY THIS???

"We want to improve the living conditions of people," Mr. Lord said. "I've seen some people with their families and their children and clearly they need better protection."

The government is also committed to giving boarders who rent rooms protections similar to tenants who rent apartments under the Landlord and Tenants Act.

He will say anything to win an election. Just watch what he does not what he says.

The proof is in the pudding as they say. I"m a bit cynical as well in that the TJ article mentioned the tenants protections, but then went on with far more detail on making sure that boarding homes are up to snuff. That's fine as well but it doesn't nothing about people's RIGHTS. The city certainly can't check out every house, they obviously would only act when their is a complaint-but who is going to complain if they can be evicted simply because they complain.

At least it got mentioned though. NB'ers have to remember that they ultimately control the agenda, which is why we need people talking about tenant rights. One MLA has mentioned introducing a Private Members Bill, so we have to ensure that if someone introduces the bill, the other parties and MLA"s KNOW that NB'ers are paying attention. I doubt the Irving press will give it much coverage, so we have to use alternate sources.
