Charles about your blog yesterday re filling that bottle with money...I have mixed feelings on the issue. I AM FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING AS LONG AS THE MONEY IS GOING TOWARDS SINGLE ADULTS.
Not to be down on families, but for example, I know a single dad of 3 kids. He got his family allowance early, as did all parents. He receives approx. $750 for 3 kids, family allowance, that is about $250 a kid. I really don't know what all this Empty stocking Fund and Christmas Daddies is really all about. Where are peoples' family allowance money going? Heck, that's more that I'm going to earn this month at my job! Not to mention his welfare cheque will come, yes, I know AFTER Christmas, but so be that. Now if you are campaigning for single folk with no kids, that's a different story. Single people are the forgotten ones all the time and it's a struggle for them to get help. I don't even feel sorry for seniors, they get pensions and a supplement, in most cases,they are well cared for. I'm referring to the SINGLE WORKING POOR OR THE SINGLE PEOPLE ON WELFARE. They are the people that the Empty Stocking Funds, etc. should go to, not someone that is getting $750 in family allowances just before Christmas. So help me, I don't know what these peoples' problems are but they're always crying they got nothing!1 So they got kids! Whoopi!

With three kids you'd need at least a two bedroom apartment, in any city that's going to be over $750 just for living conditions. Believe me, there's a reason kids live in poverty.

I don't have a clue what your're talking about, you keep mentioning 6:00 o'clock?? what's up with that? I'm talking mainly about a single parent, IN HOUSING, with 3 kids, let's say..ok they get $750 for family allowance, they pay $250 for rent, and their welfare is what, about $900. This guy I know is the first to admit he has a $600 SURPLUS each month !! Now you can shun that or not, it's a fact. No, Charles won't sleep any better knowing that I approve or disapprove about what he's doing, but obviously his blog site here is open to the public, and he's welcoming comments. Who gives you the right to say who's right and who's wrong??
People are on here sucking up to Charles LeBlanc everyday. He pulls on his pants everyday one leg at a time, same as me. He wipes his butt after a crap, same as me. And he's poor, same as me. So what's up? Why do all comments have to be positive? Whatever happened to free speech? I don't think a single parent living in housing is what you would call urgently NEEDY. That's my opinion. Many of them smoke and drink even. And play Bingo or VLT's. There's money left for that. I'm tired of the poor yanging all the time about their plight. And there's a lot more like me. But they won't speak up, because they're afraid of being ridiculed.
You know what?? Charles is a regular guy for sure. You're correct.....he puts his pants on one leg at a time etc....but....you know what makes Charles different??? Whether you agree or disagree with him? he puts his name and ass on the line fighting for what he "believes" is right. It doesn't matter if I agree or you agree....guess what. I am a superintendent of a building at 75 Carleton Street. I called the food bank on Friday because I wanted to make a meal for the poor who live here. I the lady said.. " I am sure some people will be going home to there families for Christmas"..well guess what folks..They will all be here. No family!! There are 33 people living here.. 9 people out of 30 will get a small box with a tiny chicken for themselves...what about the 21 other needy people?? The lady at the food bank said she will call me back.. I did not get a call. I am really disapointed that I cannot have enough food for my tenants...I am sad..and a caring person. The people here live on $495 a month ..rent is $325..$310 and the cheapest is $265..I want to have the supper on the 22nd of december..I need help!!! Please I am begging. These People are wanting so much to share this special time of year with each othere.. everybody brings a gift to excahnge for $1.00 Thats all they can afford. I am asking for help... I wonder if we will get any help for this building. Thanks for reading. May God Bless you all!!

Have you tried contacting any of the Broadcasting Media Outlets for what you are trying to do ?
Also, this is just a helpful suggestion for your effort. If you post your name and contact information on this Blog Site, maybe you'll reach your goal.
I'm familiar with Carleton Street in Saint John to some degree. Mind telling me if your efforts are with any special organization, such as a church group or non-profit organization ?
Wishing you the best of luck in your efforts. I think people will help, but so many people are afraid of being Ripped Off in this day and age Sadly.

Nobody here was even talking about Charles. I don't know ANY place where a family of five can live for 250, that's just crazy. Look at apartment ads, let's say you get super lucky and find an apartment for $500. That will not include heat, lights, power, telephone (oh, maybe the poor don't deserve phones). Say that's still $650.
Remember, you still have to food and clothe each child, not to mention dental care, school supplies and other necessities.
I don't think you'll find too many families on welfare who are living high on the hog. Keep in mind though that the vast majority are what you called 'working poor'. There are very few who are actually dependant on welfare year round.
Nobody is saying that single poor dont have it bad, but perhaps you should look at the people driving hummers and lexus' around instead of poor families.
By the way... I have talk to the Church about this and they told me to call the food bank..no call back from them yet. I am not a taker... I am a giver... and I wish I could afford to buy for all these people.. Maybe someday with God's help I will. I never used anybody to my advantage. I believe in what is right in this society. How about calling THE OWNER of your building, that's over $9000 in rent each month, surely he could spring for a meal!
