Define asinine? Anti americanism is simply the way of the world now. To not be is like living in Great Britain and praising the romans during the roman empire.
However, the point is not anti-americanism at all, it is well known in economics that the more money that stays in the community, the healthier it is. If it goes to the states then it obviously doesn't benefit New Brunswickers. And if it goes to Toronto it doesn't help New Brunswickers.
Most places have dozens of options besides Tim Hortons. Their coffee is actually far worse than most others. They don't even have the decency to do like Starbucks and bring in 'fair trade' coffee. But of course that's because canadians don't even ASK for it, let alone demand it.
Keep in mind another fact. Caffeine is a DRUG, it is ADDICTIVE, far more additive than marijuana. Not as bad as nicotine, but still a drug. People are real hypocrites to argue against pot or other people's drug of choice when they have their own.
Not to mention that every year Tim's gives away fewer and fewer prizes. The first year the prizes were one in four, now they are one in fifteen. Buy Local!. Or be part of the problem.
