TWO PEOPLE KILLED IN MONCTON!!!!

Picture 035, originally uploaded by Oldmaison.

One individual in their 60s and the other in his 20s. I'm certain that we'll hear of more deaths in the morning. < I hope that I'm wrong > It's 1:00am and it's still very windy out there.

It's sad to see fatalaties on the highways on the rise again. This was discussed on this site last summer and the numbers of deaths had actually gone down after fines got doubled. Seems it was a short term fix. I'm not sure what the circumstances of this particular crash was but it's disconcerting to hear that almost half of the fatalties on NB's highways involve people who didn't wear a seatbelt...and another 20% or more involve alcohol and/or drugs according to the RCMP.

In a small province though statistics can be misleading. Weather can have a lot to do with it as well.

However, the seat belts is worrying, I didn't think ANYBODY drove without a seatbelt nowadays. The other statistic I"d look for is young drivers, who are in a large proportion of accidents in other provinces. Some are talking about raising the DA. With a tory government in Ottawa though, perhaps another reason is lack of police at critical times. Whether any of that increase will 'filter down' to NB is another question though.

Nice to see Spinks back, hey SPinks, guess who got a call from BBM Canada and is being polled for television ratings? What's my favourite show that I never miss....CBC News for New Brunswick of course!!:)

Are New Brunswickers THAT bad of drivers? WHat's going on? There are fewer accidents in southern ontario where there are ten times as many people! Maybe it's time to talk about public insurance and mandatory training.

That's great 9:52. You'll double their ratings. ;)

most accident are cause by irresponsible drivers which we have a lot in NB ..

drivers that do not know to slow down in temperature changes and road conditions .. the ones that weaves in and out of traffic without signalling or doing it after the fact ..

you would think we are on a race track when driving in NB
