Please people of Saint John wake up before they totally destroy our city and the park that can be developed; not many cities possess such a diamond in the rough. It is worth millions and we should not prostitute such a gem.
As a teenager I always walked to the park and back home on Clarendon St. Years ago before the Fishers Lakes had been developed my Dad, two sisters (13) and myself went picking blueberries. After picking blueberries we waded in the water (careful because we can't swim) and one of my teen sisters had got tangled in some long grass and a current kepted pulling her in. We were told later that there used to be a sign "No Swimming" there because someone else had drowned. Soon we were all in trouble swallowing water except the other twin got her clothes caught on some branches and she was able to call for help. Two men got my Dad and myself out and they had to go down several times to get my sister. This was in 1963 and at the time they said she had too much water in her lungs which burst. I was only ten and this was traumatic for our whole family. Still I knew their was a greater power who wanted her so I never held anything against this lake.
Our politicians and our Billionaires in our city have never spent the money to help develop the area. Some private citizens did pour some money in but without real support they were doomed.
No to the gas pipeline going through a beautiful area that could have what PEI has and more. Shame on our Premiers and MLA's for not demanding to protect it. Forget what the Billionaires and Corporations want. The beauty will be lost. No we are not forsale; proect our city our park!

You know this whole Rockwood Park thing could just be a smoke screen.
Don't you thionk that it would be even more viable for the Pipe line to go directly through the city center.
Mabey this is all drama and a psychological game that the Multinationals are playing to win access through the city.
If the people win the battle over Rockwood Park then they will be too busy basking in the victory to care about it going through the city, which is hypotheticly what the Irvings want anyway.
It's hell of a lot less Blasting to run it straight through the heart of the city and way cheaper to crack open the Blacktop and lay the line down.
Excuse me but they didnot want to pay the municiple tax dollars taxes; why care now so they can save more money at our expense again. Just think years ago the bull that was told to us; notice we take in all the pollution and we also take all the health risks. We should pay less for gas but no we are not given any concessions and have ot had any breaks from this billionaire. Yes we did receive a few crumbs throughout the years. We give away our water, air, tax dollars, forests, land and so much more. While they take their money elsewhere the people here struggle to keep up and pay for their saving. We have had this treatment too long. We are not going to let Saint John go to the Irving Empire without a fight. The mayor and councillors are setting up a smoke screen. This has been in the works a long time.
Yeah, and most of you more than likely voted for our Current Mayor.

I voted for Shirley, Ivan and unfortunately I gave Chang my vote and McGuire and they were very big mistakes. I can't recall the others I voted for but boy were the people wronged. No one deserves the disrespect the people are getting from the Mayor and most Councillors. Premier has to go I voted once but why fall twice for such deceitful person.
