FREDERICTON POLICE FORCE LATEST VICTIM?? A BLIND PERSON!!!

Boy? I love to be the man on the street. People are approaching me with all kinds of sad stories.

This is Greg Gillmor and he lives on Brunswick Street. Greg is partly blind and he always has his dog with him.

Greg approached me today and told me that he got a fine from the Fredericton Police Force.

The reason? He was in a park and he was playing fetch with his dog.

The police arrive and told the blind guy that he had to put a leach on the dog? After they left? He put the leach on and threw a ball and the dog ran for the ball.

The police came back and gave Greg a $50.00 fine!!! This is totally ridiculous!

Not even the blind people are safe from this communist style system!

The crazy witch-hunt must come to a stop!!!

Everyday people in authority need to use common sense and this was not there to fine him $50 is wrong. Communication with him and working in some common direction would of been the right thing to do. Please wake up and correct the wrong and cancel the ticket!

I know the officers involved in this incident. I know that Park Patrol warned him about it recently, and the two women he was with were acting very, very rude to the officers in question, and in fact disobeyed their plea to keep the dog on the leash. He was ignoring a city by-law, was warned, and therefore got a ticket.

why does his dog need special dog food ? is he royalty or something.

rules are rules, and laws are laws, why should he be excluded ?

It is possible that the dog requires special food prescibed by a vet. If that is true and this man can't financially provide the food for his dog, although it would be emotionally difficult, it would most likely be in the best interests of the dog's health to give him up for adoption through the SPCA where he could find a new home able to take care of him.

If in fact this is a seeing eye dog it would be no use to him off a leash. And we have enclosed dog parks for playing fetch. I feel bad for the guy but in all fairness he was warned.

This dog isn't a pitt bull or a rotweiler, I know this person his dog is very gentle, but the owner should know better than to let his dog go free. ALL dogs can bite. I feel bad for the dog, he should be able to run and play. I think the ticket was a little too much, maybe a warning would have been better.
