Old story. Mike Harris did that in Ontario. Bernie assumes that people forget it and he wants to try the same stunt in New Brunswick.

i think is a great idea to cap the tax rates. im votin for my PC candidate eventhough i would normally vote lib.

i do not want to move out of the house i own and lived in most of my life because my property taxes are skyrocketing each year from someone else building a mulit million dollar subdivision next to my house.
let them pay the taxes for their big houses.

I want to pay taxes for the services i recieve, i dont want to pay for the liberal promisses i have been hearing about lately.
I think my liberal candidate has promised every think from mowing peoples lawn and a streel light for every second house.

desperate, I agree with you that property assessment and hence taxes should be lower. But there should be a cap on taxes period. If you just keep assessment at 3% and keep increasing tax rates then it does nothing.

It is like 1% GST reduction which does nothing as retailer can just jack up prices by 1% or more. However if there is a reduction in personal income tax especially for low income then it might help.
