CFBC (AM)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from CFBC)
Jump to: navigation, search
CFBC is an AM radio station broadcasting at 930 kHz from Saint John, New Brunswick. The station plays an oldies format and is owned by Maritime Broadcasting System.

CFBC's first broadcast was on November 21, 1946, and was an affiliate of the CBC Dominion Network until its dissolution in 1962. The callsign comes from the station's original owner, Fundy Broadcasting Company (later known as Fundy Cable). CFBC-FM began operating in 1965 at 98.9 MHz; it is now known as CJYC-FM ("C98"). MBS purchased CFBC and CJYC from Fundy in 1997.

In addition to the oldies format, CFBC is known for its news coverage, including the morning talk show Talk of the Town.

CFBC going off the air is the best Damn News I've heard in a long time

How do you force yourself to buy their newspaper?

I walk by them every day.

C-98 (another MBS Saint John Station) is now called Big John (because as their website states: we’re BIG on Saint JOHN.)

I can't say that I will miss CFBC when it leaves (because this is in the works also!) but I really will miss TOTT. It kept me up to date on all that was happening around town.

I know that there are 2 wrongful dismissal suits being brought against MBS. Wonder if they will amount to much!

It is sad to see Saint John lose something local.

We still have Ton Young on Rogers radio. If he would just change the format. He usually has special guests on there and citizens do not get a chance to call in too much.
Instead, I'm going to e-mail the Rogers radio station and ask them to re-vamp that show.

I for one can’t believe it! Talk of the Town was the people’s voice of Saint John. Now, it’s gone off air; no one will know what going on with the LNG (which they will be glad of) or anything else around the City; like taxes, utilities hikes. CFBC Talk of the Town was a GREAT asset for all. If you ALL don't think So?

yeah, without talk of the town how would of the citizens become so misinformed about the lng tax deal.
the tax break is more in the order of 1/2 million a year for 25 years, not 5 million. discount that for time and its not even a $10 million concession in todays dollar. consider the non-call centre jobs its creating and it doesn't seem so bad.

but the folks on talk of the town would never let you say that, they would just yell at you about how the mayor is evil.

p.s. not too many kids read the paper.
