Why in hell should these people have to LITERALLY suffer?

I’m talking about the loved ones who go through the STRESSFULNESS of it all.

...... and have nowhere..... no one .....no organizations to turn to and seek help for their unfortunate predicament.

The working poor doesn’t have anywhere to turn to because the system don’t seem to care.

For example? If you’re on social assistant. A person has a health Care card but the working poor doesn’t.

Can you imagine making seven bucks an hour and trying to obtain the high cost of a prescription drugs to prolong your loved one life?

It’s virtually impossible.

Lets look at all the facts here!

Lets say I wish to travel to Saint John? How can “ US POOR ” individuals afford this high cost of travel?

It’s just plainly monotonous!

With the price of gas and insurance? Need I to say more?

Where does a person stay while he or she is in Saint John?

The Delta or the Holiday Inn????

The bottom line of my letter on this issue is if you’re the working poor and you live in New Brunswick?

You will definitely meet a certain and short death!!!!!

Hope we all meet in the BRIGHT SKIES!!!

Here's a thought... Form a non-profit organization that raises funds to help such a demographic. If the goverment is not helping, do something!

Where are they going to raise funds from? NB is the poorest province in Canada.

Ask yourself this. How much money does McDonalds extract from the province? How many 'Mcdonald houses' are there?

Have a dunk "Charles" contest, you raise a million quite quickly! ;-p

Seriously, there are many non-profits that work at raising funds throught fund rasing events. NB isn't as poor as you think. There is capital out there, you just need to go ask. Start with a golf tournament. Most golf courses manage the whole thing. All you need is to sign up teams. People will pay if they get something in return. Here's some quick ones for you:

Concert featuring local artist
Raffle
Silent Auction
Speakers luncheon
Golf tournament
Softball tournament
Marathon
Art sale
Bake sale

ps. McDonalds support IWK's and htere isn't one in NB.

The government loves it when we citizens hold fundraisers for this, that and everything else. It takes the "burden" off of them and they see that we'll just take up the slack when they cut funding and waste money on unnecessary things. So go ahead, start raising even more money, you'll be letting the government off easy and they'll continue to cut even more funding and facilities.

Go check the stats or just any of the non profits just how poor New Brunswickers are. Not all are, like the Irvings or McCains, but they're scottish heritage does them proud.

It is a LOT of work to form an organization to do something like that, and even more expensive to advertise it. The kinds of changes mentioned above simply can't be done by a single organization.

However, what IS easy is making it a political issue, especially with the internet, especially with an election going on. However, governments are loathe to start their own programs now, so perhaps theres a point to forming a non profit. Perhaps a good feature of Charles could be how to form non profits since thats the only way anything gets done.

You need a combination of goverment, private industry and non-profit to make it work. I see no problem with having goverment less involved as they tend to prolong funding and stiffle progress. Non-profits and industry working together can get things done faster and easier than goverment. Yes it's work, but like anything else in life you only get results if you work towards your goal.

And for your information there is a significant number of middle and upper class in NB, you just have to go find them. Here's the proof..

http://www40.statcan.ca/l01/cst01/famil108a.htm

The average family income in NB is $49,700. While the Canadian average is $58,100 you need to take into account the lower cost of housing and income tax. We are poorer then our cousins but there is money out there. Your proposed option would have them pay through higher taxes, at least my option would provide them some bang for the buck.
