And without the polititions, zackerdeli can't stop this any longer.

OTTAWA -- Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day has personally guaranteed job protection to two RCMP whistleblowers with information on an alleged coverup of internal criminal wrongdoing that implicates Canada's top cop, Sun Media has learned.

"You have my assurances that our government promotes transparency and encourages people to come forward at any time with information on important matters," Day wrote in a letter to Conservative MP Peter Goldring, who has been pressing for answers on the case. "You can assure these individuals that no retaliating measures will be applied to them because of their willingness, in good faith, to bring information forward in this case."

Goldring said the officers have information that the RCMP did not adequately investigate alleged sexual abuse in the 1990s by a former Mountie at the Kingsclear school in New Brunswick. No charges were laid against the officer despite numerous complaints.

'RED FLAGS'

RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli headed the criminal division in New Brunswick at the time.

The RCMP's civilian oversight agency has been conducting an inquiry into the Mountie investigation.

Day spokesman Melisa Leclerc said the minister is determined to get to the bottom of the case.

"He wants as much information as possible so this investigation can be completed as quickly as possible," she said.

Goldring said Day's assurances could help crack open a case that has hit roadblocks because officers feared for their jobs.

Goldring said despite "red flags," the subject officer was moved from post to post
