I heard from a good source that the Irvings did play a huge role in cancelling CFBC Talk of The Town!
The story is this -
The advertisers were afraid to promote their company on CFBC because they would be blacklisted by the Irvings.
I heard of this blacklist in the past and it’s very very very sad!!!
Many families were force to leave New Brunswick because their Daddy was on the infamous blacklist!!!
Saint Johners are in the dark and it’s a darn shame.
Jamie Irving will not print critical letters of the Irvings so therefore freedom of speech is truly dead in Saint John.
What can a person do? The avenue is blogging and the Irvings are looking to eliminate this procedure.
Talk of the Town is truly miss and there’s nothing the citizens can do.

Heres a thought Charles. Why don't you just write up this latest hot tip and send it off to the Telegraph? Type up a nice little letter about why talk of the town was cancelled and see if they publish it. Be nice but tell the truth..as you see it anyway and see what happens. At worst all you would have to do was apologize for suggesting they would never print it and at best you will have one more reason to complain about the Irvings. You can't lose on this one.
I can also understand that advertisers who wanted to reach a population in their demographic would not wish to buy ads for Talk of the Town, when the demos for this always seemed to be older people set in their buying ways. The callers and listeners had anti-corporate views and were willing to research and form strong opinions on topics, not the sheep advertisers often try to flock.
Naaahhhh...can't be bothered!!! I like better better this way. The last time the Irvings refuse a critical letter of the empire?

Jamie Irving isn't backing down so I guess the battle will go on for a long time.
One thing is certain? I will bring this issue up in court!!!
YOu think nobody tries to sell to older people set in their ways? I've got news for you, the majority of New Brunswickers are that way.
I suspect Charles it has more to do with knowing your "good source" might be less than good. You say there is nothing a citizen can do yet you won't even write? Perhaps your just more afraid of being Wrong

Of course Rick can't say much; he is trying to work and have a little income in Saint John. Irving had the power to get this show shut down and he will always have that power because our polician give him full tax concessions and with all his money he can have people buy things for him and he doesnot have to dirty his hands (figure of speech).
CFBC is very much missed to average people of Saint John and surrounding areas. Clarity came some years ago when I also knew of this black list you can be put on by the Irvings. Lucky for me this persons name was removed but hired at less pay and less benefits until they found a new company to work for and moved on. We all know the Irvings do good things but along with that they still don't use their own money. With all the bad things said they have stepped up and had to spend some money to brain wash us of all the good things.. We just want to be treated fair and they don't need more tax breaks or backroom deals!
How powerful was the show if tax breaks and backroom deals occured when it was on the air. All that the show allowed was for people to sound off when it was already too late.
True all deals have been made. Like the deal the mayor made and all the deals he still makes.
The Bay Ferries is a matter that has something to do with the LNG Deal too. Who has money interest in this? There is more to this. The money spent on Rockwood Park can still be spent on the park and the LNG can go out to the Bay to US at Coleson Cove and leave our City alone. These signs of good corporate people sickens me quite frankly. If all paid their taxes we could afford to fix our city up in style without begging for crumbs. This is like giving $4 dollars to them. Most people see through this mess the Politicians have done to us bit we never have a say. The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and most of councillors have been playing the games of who should do what to make sure all happens for the Irvings. It has been made cystal clear along time ago. Noone is getting my vote but by the time they leave we are screwed. This civic election was bought and paid by this powerful greedy corporate company. Who cares about bullying the citizens and seniors of Saint John let's bring in new citizens and brain wash them. What a great city and how carrying they are! Believe what you want we have not all fallen for this cramp!
