Fredericton-Silverwood rookie MLA Rick Miles will serve as the new chairman of the provincial Liberal caucus.
"Mr. Miles is a new MLA in the legislature, but he has worked hard and has already gained the confidence of our caucus," Premier Shawn Graham said in a statement.
Miles was the surprise of the last provincial election as he unseated former Health Minister Brad Green.
Miles will oversee all caucus meetings and their agendas.
The MLA said he wants to hold caucus meetings across the province. The next one is scheduled for Jan. 24 in Miramichi.

Chairman of the caucus, not the entire party
The Party doesn't have a chairman, it has a President. This is great, what fantastic PR, now they can use their nice new hybrid cars to drive all around the province to pretend they are moving 'closer to the people'. What a nice waste of gas. Why don't they learn to use those things called videoconferencing and teleconferencing if they actually want to set an example on cutting back on energy use. But I guess they just can't figure out those buttons. Or they can use that fancy new service called 'email'. I hear its really good.
