After a few days collecting names for my petition at the same spot, I noticed that the amount of people diminish.

Could it be that the word got out and they’re avoiding this little corner? You see? You got to understand that I’m a stranger in a new City.

For people to sign away their name address and postal?

I had to give them a good reason, If I was in my home town?

I would shout- Hey? John? Mary? Peter? Sign this piece of paper.

They would do so without having me explaining what it was all about.

I’m glad that this special friend of mine
mentioned the word petition because the days to just sit around were officially over!

I was in people faces and I enjoyed it!

Of course this gave me the chance to
hear both side of the story and you’ll hear many of them in future stories.

My schedule would be like this - A certain crow would always wake me up really in the morning at 6:30am.

I would go at Tim’s for a extra large triple triple and a Boston cream.

I would received a free paper at the Beaverbrook Hotel. They knew that I was a protester and could have denied me on the premises but they never said a word and I’m grateful.

I would go at the library at 10:00am to
write my updates and would collect names in the
afternoon.

Around 4:30pm, I would make the long walk
to the soup kitchen and eat a good meal.

It would get dark around 9:30 pm and I would be busy collecting names for the kids with ADD/ADHD!

I remember at first I would say that 5,000 kids suffers from ADD/ADHD but at the end of my protest? The number would climb up to 10,000!

I must admit that it was very hard work but I have ADHD so therefore I do have the energy to continue the battle.

If the media would cover my protest in great details? It would make my job a little easier.

I couldn’t let the media bring me down so therefore I had lots of talking to do.

Once at the Soup Kitchen? I never really chatted with anyone because I didn’t wish anyone around my tent.

I knew that the Quebec Security staff were watching me very closely so therefore I had to follow the rules of the book!

People who goes to that needy place have mental
problem and it’s a very small place so you can
understand the many fist fights that happens in that place?

I remember one day that the super seven jackpot
hit 25 million and I asked George Pierce what would he do or say if I won the money?

He quickly told me that he would love a new kitchen and if the day comes that I win a large amount of money?

I would gladly gave a big donation to the Soup Kitchen.

One day while I was at the library someone came behind me and said - Hello Charles! It was a young beautiful girl name - Leanne
Miller.

I was very surprise to see her again and it
bought me some good memories.

I met Leanne last year during my 12 days of Protest. I was on a hunger strike and I only drank juice.

I went to a corner store and it was there that I met Leanne. She’s from Newfoundland and a really hard worker. She would have
three jobs at once and she’s very friendly and
trusting.

She was very concerned that I didn’t eat
but I had to do what I had to do!

One evening in 2002 at around 11:00pm, she showed up at tent asking me if I would love a shave and shower over her place?

At first, I didn’t really know what to expect but I gladly accepted her offer. We took a long walk in the City and made it to her place. She shared the house with 3 other people and after a nice hot shower?

She asked me if I wanted a nice cold beer but I denied because I was in a tent and I didn’t wish the staff to smell booze off my breath.

This time around? Leanne is still working hard and I took a another shower over her
place which she shares with her long time boyfriend -Joel.

Once again, she offered me a cold beer but I
couldn’t have one because it was only 6:00pm and I knew that I would be collecting names on the streets and if the public smell boozes from my breath?

They would quickly call the police and my protest would be officially over!

Trust me! I love my beer and those very hot summer days would have been a very excuse to
drink a few cold ones.

Leanne is a very trusting people and I love her very much for trusting me! < Especially me being a perfect stranger>

Her and a friend traveled across Canada after my first protest and we kept in touch via email. I made a good friend and it sure nice to see her again.

I was going after anyone who crossed my pact and yes this includes Taxi Drivers!

Those worker were parked near the
BeaverBrook Hotel.

Many of them knew that I was a friend of Denis Melanson of the talk shows.

Denis drove taxis for a living and he introduced me to the guys and gals at Trius Taxi! What a bunch of swell people.

When they had a good day? They would order me to go and buy a coffee and donut! They always asked me if I wanted a ride somewhere?

I won’t mention no names because I wouldn’t wish to get them in trouble. They know who they are and I’m very grateful to those hard
working people.

One episode stayed in my mind. I noticed a guy behind the wheel at Trius. His name was
Mike and he had a goat-tee and Red hair.

I asked him if he was interested in signing my petition? He quickly told me that he wouldn’t sign! I quickly reply - No wonder The Irvings won’t hire people with red hair!

In a manner of seconds? He told me that he
has also heard the same story?

I learned a valuable lesson during my protest. I always have a difficult time reaching people with red hair!

I made a speech in front of 10 people and the red headed person always gave me a difficult time.

Why is that now! Of course, I did meet some nice red headed citizens but I still have some terrible flashback with some others.

I’ll never forget the day that I approached a couple and they both had red hair!

If I could only show you the dirty look that they gave me!

Maybe it’s because they’re more noticeable?

Who knows?

Every instance that a red hair individual would sign my petition?

I would asked if they were a true red head?

If the answer was -yes! I would quickly shake their hand and thanked them from the bottom of my heart for not giving me a difficult time.

Pretty funny!

I quickly found out that it’s the younger generation who really understand the issue of ritalin and it’s that group that I concentrated on.

The older citizens don’t seem to understand the going on with ritalin in this Province and I don’t seem to understand why they wouldn’t sign my piece of paper?

I mean why would a person agree with drugging kids? Doesn’t make any sense at all!

During the fourth week of the protest,
the media phoned Bernard Richard and asked the
straight forward one if he had any news on anything?

Bernard told the media that if they wanted a story?

Charles is in a tent on the front lawn of the
Legislature. They totally ignored my protest and it was getting sickening because it would have made my job much more easier.

I always told the people around me that the Irvings gave the orders to ignore me at
any cost and that’s the way it was.

It really didn’t bother me because I had printed copies of my column in the River Valley News so therefore I had some fun with the Irving Own Newspapers.

One reporter told me that he would love to cover my story but he was afraid to lose his job.

I was very disappointed with CBC Television.

They had a series call - Learning Curves
last year and it concentrate their effort on
education.

This protest would have fit right into their ball game but they refuse to cover my protest.

I know one reporter who didn’t like me and it was sad because I told the media that I wasn’t a publicity hound and they should think about the kids.

I did mention CBC Televison in my speech of the manner inclusion works in this Province and it help me to collect signatures.

I was always a fan of CBC Television but no more. I’m begining to understand
the reason that so many viewers still go to ATV! Then again?

I had the same problem with those stations
also!

Maybe I’m too ugly to me a movie star?....lol...

Who truly knows?
