He said it goes against his religious belief. He will not fly the Gay Flag and that is that!!!

If I was W.R. (Bill) Mills?

Who can ever forget his huge battle with the Gay population on this issue?

I have thanked Mr Woodside on many occasions with this story.

The last time he was elected Mayor of Fredericton?

One of his first duties as Mayor was to proclaim Gay Pride Week!

He did it and that was that!

Another word???? DON’T BOTHER ME WITH THAT ISSUE AGAIN!!!!...LOL….LOL…

I had a very good laugh over his action. < I still do to this day!!! > lol…

Yes, if I was the Mayor of Truro?

Mayor of Truro

I would contact Brad Woodside asking him if it’s worth the effort and time in fighting for his religious belief???

I believe Brad Woodside would suggest to W.R. (Bill) Mills it’s definitely not worth the time and energy fighting the Gay population.

All eyes around the world are going to focus on the little town of Truro but all for the wrong reasons!!!

Stay tuned!!

Personally if a City or Town in this Nation dose not want to fly a gay flag on the pole or, acknowledge a version of Sexual Immorality, then it has that God given right to do so. I don't understand what all of the fuss and griping is about, The have no problem parading themselves in front of small children and their mothers with their fannies hanging out let them find a room like the rest of us, if they are ging to live like this and keep it to them-selves. The rest of us don't need to know what goes on behind closed doors I am so bloody sick and tired of hearing the same old song and dance with this crap. Mayor woodside was a coward because he would not stand on the side of Rightiousness and make a stand for the Traditional Defination of Marriage which is one Man and One Women.

Simple solution to this one. Don't fly any flags with the exception of Canada, the province or in NB's case the Acadian one. End of problem.

Well personally I am quite impressed with M Mckay, after all it wasn't that long ago people with his particular narrow mindset were all too interested in what was going on in everyone else's bedrooms. At least thats an improvement..(if indeed we can take him on his word that is). Why maybe there is hope for the self righteous after all.

Just passing must be a coward he or, she likes to lobb insults but if you don't leave your name, then what you have to say dosen't really mean a whole lot or, carry a lot of weight. I stand up and say what I think about the issues only and if I have a problem with some in any of the political arenas, I will be decent enough to sign my Name. That is Michael McKay. Do the decent thing, if you are going to accuse someone of something, then at least be human and leave your name.

Buddy, (9 i know your name in McKay, but....too bad) just deal with the fact that there is someone (now two with me) who take a different view than your own.
However, some dude name PET once said that the state has no place in the bedrooms of the nation.
This echoes true here. But does that mean we should recognize gay pride week?
f gov't truly has no place in this realm, should this realm expect gov't to recognize their sexual orientation?
Because i seriously don't give a sh*t (censored, Charles)whether your hetero, bi, homo, or whatever kids are into these days. Why should i expect my municipality to?

Give your twisted little head a shake Mikey, Frankly you come here enough to know better than to suggest by using the nic that I do regularly that I am trying to hide. Personally I think you have to be either looking for the attention or a fool to post your real name in places like this (no need to tell me which one you are Mikey I can guess). Do you try contacting people that post their names in here Mikey? Do you look up their phone numbers, give them a call? Pay them a visit? Lets say I used my "real" name. Would you have tried to "find me?
Here is what I think Mikey. I suggest that you simply ignore my remarks if you find my lack of a name so distasteful. That has the added bonus of seeing less of your drivel so it would be kind of a win/win situation. This self righteous whining is what I have come to expect from arrogant zealots anyway. Its nothing new. Insults from an obviously hate filled man such as yourself Mikey are never a surprise after all.

Give Mike a rest. It's hard for the narrow minded among us to put ourselves in someone else's shoes, and I'm sure he thinks if he tries to see it from the GLBTQ community's point of view he might catch their "sexual immorality".

Sorry we don't all march to the beat of the same drum, Mr. Mckay. Enjoy your missionary sex with your wife, and crying yourself to sleep with all these fannies waving at you. Must be exhausting to be so self righteous and indignant.

As a gay man, I have to respectfully disgaree with Mr.McKay. As a taxpayer, I have just as much right to expect my government to be as accepting of me as they are to a heterosexual taxpayer. I agree with Charles, ask Brad Woodside how this turn out for his City. This is a Human Rights Complaint just waiting to happen, and THAT will cost the taxpayers alot MORE money than if the Mayor just raised the freakin' flag in the first place.

Finally, I would caution Mr.McKay because I have found through personal experience that those that display homophobic traits usually have a skelton in their own closet...

If the shoes were on the other foot, and a gay mayor refused to hang up a flag with a crucifix on it that declared Catholic pride week in Truro, I wonder how much fuss this would bring?

I don't expect someone who wouldn't fly a Catholic flag to be intolerant of Catholics. They'd just say, Catholicism isn't something we all endorse. So go freely celebrate in your church and the town will be the town.

Here, if the mayor flies the flag, the whole town must celebrate homosexuality--something that many find very offensive.

Homosexuals have been far more assertive politically and otherwise with their rights, and devout Christians find themselves increasingly backed into a corner, finding no tolerance for their views in public. And as homosexuals rent Catholic halls for gay wedding receptions, then sue the Church for refusing them, well, that's a brutal tactic no Christian would try to do to homosexuals.

Despite being in far greater numbers, the silence and disengagement of my fellow Christians has cost us dearly.
