I don't know much about how these dinasors do business, but it would seem that they will support any Political Party who is willing to give them a tax break. I think that they have had enough breaks for a while. I think it is time that they worked with the Provincial, and Federal Governments and give the ordinary person a break at the gas pump, instead of continually jacking up the gas prices
Don't give me this garbage about the War in Iraq or tropical storms, or the Hurricains that have pounded the United states over the last few weeks or, months. it dosen't hold any water.
It is just these huge oil companies or, consordiums making a killing off the poor or the working class, so give us a break and bring those prices down so people can afford to live more better standard of living.
The T and T and Daily Gleaner certainly lean Tory. I can;t argue with that but the TJ has a more liberal leaning. I know some will disagree but take a week and read their columnists, there's a definite left lean at the TJ.
Lisa Hrabluk left leaning, you got to be kidding. She is in love with Lord though she has competition with Hooton, now. David Lutz may call himself Liberal but he as right as you can get. Kathy Caulfied & Carl Davies try to be balanced but none of them is left-leaning neither is their employer Irvings.
Read Lutz's articles again. He's a pro-abortion male feminist. That's not a textbook conservative that I've never read about. Hrabluk bashes Lord, Harper and Conservatives all the time. In a somewhat witty way, but the disdain for conservatives not just politically but in thinking is pretty obvious. Both Kaufield and Davies also lean to the left although not radically so. Harvey is of course far-left but at least she's pretty up front about it, much like Charles Moore is far right but admits it.
On the other side the T and T is pretty far to the right while the DG takes a slight turn to the right although they have a huge love for Andy Scott which I can't figure out except it's a local paper so maybe they don't have much choice. I don't know.
Unless they've changed their political affiliation lately, the Irving Family is Liberals through and through. Maybe they switched parties. You could be right but historically they always shower the Libs with cash.
I can't agree with you that Hrabluk is not intelligent. She wouldn't be where she was if she wasn't intelligent so that's a pretty malicious statement on your part. I don't agree with much of what she writes but that doesn't mean I think she's unintelligent.
People realy need to look up what 'right and left' mean. Find a Telegraph article that is 'pro union'-at least trade unionism is actually 'left', and you won't hear about it at TJ. Irvings back anybody who do what there told. The old man was liberal federally, so are his sons, probably because they know they are financially conservative anyway. All the liberals have been bought and paid for by Irving, but the federal conservatives are from out west where Irving has little clout, so don't look for them there. If Lord stopped playing ball you'd see the knives come out quick.
I think Bernie extended the municipal terms to 4 years because the Irvings have a lot to do between now and 2007 and they have their little Lord Ducks all in a line. From Fredericton all the way down the Highway to the Mayors office in Saint John.
Prediction. The Irvings will buy the refurbished Coleson Cove power plant as soon as Lepreau is completed.
Nothing would surprise me with the Lord government and Irving. Deals are made and the people of NB pay for these deals and we are fed up get their A%% out here.

As hard as it is going to be for some here to swallow this. The Irvings traditionally back the Liberals. Don't ask me why but they do.

I do read T.J and do not agree with Spinks. With the exception of one columnist (Janice Harvey) it is Lord-leaning paper.
