Misinformed? Probably. A liar? I just don't see it. The last real and truly political lie I saw was in '93 when the federal Liberals "promised" to eliminate the GST. That's a lie and no matter how much spin you put on it, (HST in 3 provinces is not a promise kept.) it's still a lie. Anyone could see that the GST brought in far too much money for any government to turf it. They could have bee truthful with the public but it made for a good election campaign and paid off.
Lord is unfortunately for him surrounded by underperformers for the most part and gets bad advice far too often. On the flip side. Shawn Graham is the underperformer but he's surrounded by far better people than the Tories. I have no problem with Lord but his government leaves a bit to be desired. @:44, you make a couple of good points on the advisor side but when it comes to MLA's Lord gets what the people voted in. Graham has much deeper strength in his MLA's than Lord has in his. No wonder Lord wants Hooton in Cabinet. He doesn't have a whole lot to choose from although giving Houlder, Carr and Macdonald a shot wouldn't be a bad idea to see what they can do and move some of the deadweight like Dube, Steeves, and Poirier out. The Liberals have much deeper strength with their MLA's. If Graham were to quit tomorrow, there would be little problem in replacing him. If Lord were to quit tomorrow, there is no heir apparent.

On to subject at hand, Bernard Lord has certainly done his share of misleading the people of this province, starting with him stating that he would improve things for ordinary NBer's. As far as I can tell he has increased the size of government with bureaucrats to look after his many pet projects that help few, if any NBer's. Healthcare has been devastated under this government, with hospitals and hospital beds disappearing everywhere in NB except Moncton. Billionaire corporations are handed tax breaks on the backs on NBer's and we are told the government has no money and we need to tighten our belts. This list could go on and on with the failures of this government and now he has offered a cushy bureaucratic job to Elizabeth Weir to get her out of the legislature,and he immediately called a by-election. I have to ask, why so quick when it took forever for him to call a by-election to replace Bernard Richard, whom he also offered a bureaucratic position.
I think it has more to do with his attempting to gain some leverage in the House so he can push through some more unpopular legislation, before the next election, when he and the rest of his crew will get kicked to the curb.
If the people of Saint John Harbour are smart they will cast their votes for the Liberal candidate, just as the voters did in Cape Pele. Don't be fooled by the fact that Bernard Lord is finally paying some attention to Saint John, after all the P.C.'s have been in office for over 6 years and in all that time Saint John has been virtually ignored by this government, along with most of the rest of the province. The only part of the province which has prospered under this government is the Moncton area.
People of Saint John Harbour, please remember, that Michelle Hooten voted to approve the LNG tax deal and that deal was approved rather quickly by the Lord government, against the wishes of many Saint Johner's. A deal I might add that according to the City of Saint John's own solicitor was not what the City of Saint John had asked for. Don't trust that once in Fredericton Michelle will stand up for Saint John. She will do what every P.C. MLA has done from Saint John in the past, and that is to toe the Party line, and that Party Line is whatever Bernard Lord says it will be, whether detrimental to Saint John or not. That is exactly why most P.C., MLA's from the Saint John area were defeated in the last election.
Saint John Harbour needs someone who is going to speak for Saint John, and it has become painfully obvious that a P.C. Member will not jeopardize his position in the Party by speaking on behalf of his constituents.
Tried to verify Councillor Chris Titus expense to go to Germany, heard it was not going to cost the taxpayers nothing; they said Saint John Energy would cover the cost. Well unless ownership changed hands I believe the taxpayers pay for that too. It will be very interesting how much they spent going to China the Mayor said that is not important. It will be very important though when they ask the taxpayers for money when they need to pay for all of this. Dictatorship here in Saint John; how dare the taxpayers question the spending of money we don't have! Great speech by Hooten who took the floor and no one was aloud to add anything after she gave her side of the story. She will be keeping her pay for now but clearly has her own agenda in mind and it is not or ever be for ordinary people. Open and clear that we need to give the Lord government the boot any way we can. Give Hooten nothing; she done nothing but smile and speeches and repeat "I want to be a voice for you". Give her the boot, vote.
