ANOTHER DEATH FROM DILAUDID IN SAINT JOHN!!!

I just received this email from Saint John. I do have a question? Why are deaths from Diaudid are public knowledge in Nova Scotia but not here in New Brunswick???? Here's the story-

Another victim to Dilaudid has died this past weekend. This young 26 year
old had a wife, a good job and now is dead and never coming back.

thunbs
drug-addict

Was he on that never ending waiting list or did he have too much shame to ask
for help?

He had alot of friends and some work with me and they are devastated.

This is another victim which in turn is a reflection of what this Conservative Government is all about.

They allowed the legal heroin pills to be prescribed with little or no help for those that it consumes.

The Doctor prescribed them with no education on narcodics.

I know at least 12 people that have died because of these pills so can you imagine just how many there is out there.

You should try to locate the figures of Dilaudid's and Oxy-Contin that have been prescribed since 1995 and this would give your readers the reality of how severe the problem is out there.

I bet that Bernard Lord's eyes would fall out if he took interest and seen the shape of the Province!

The media has to be aware of the story to report it. Usually in the case of a sudden death, that information would come from the police. Even them it would be rare that a name would be released due to privacy issues unless foul play was suspected. The question of course begs in this situation, did the decesaed die from dialudid prescribed to them or from diluadid purchased off the street. Death is tragic no matter what but the context is required to understand the circumstances.

Yeah, I don't know Charles, except that media is more concentrated in NS than NB (in Halifax) and of course it's tougher to keep a secret at the NS Legislature because of the minority government. Personally I'd like to see not only Dilaudid but all drug related deaths released. Names aren't necessary but if society had a better idea how big and potentially fatal this is, maybe we'd stop glorifying the drug culture. When the ex-PM jokes about toking up, is it any wonder the kids want to check it out and potentially move on to bigger highs?

It is time the government step and supply the services that are needed. People are desperate and families need help and everyone knows someone who wants help but nothing is there for them. Come on put the money there and get the programs going now. Children in these families also need the assistance. This would be a great Christmas present!
