IF YOU WERE AT THE CANDIDATES DEBATE TONIGHT????

Please leave your comments telling us how it went because I'm certain that the Irving's newspapers will praise Bernard Lord in the morning. < noticed I never said Hooten?? >

Lord must have given his song and dance routine. I do not think Harbour folks will buy it this time.

Lord has a big dilemma at his hands. Huntjens resigned as a Minister and he may resign as an MLA. If Hooton loses he is out of power. That just might happen.

I think Saint John voters know Lord and his government is in a disarray and in a crisis.

Oh how I love a Parade!!!
Whew just had to get that out first!
Ok I was at the debate and I'll just cut to the chase and tell you this.Mrs. Hooten was not tooten her horn tonight!!!!!and to above comments you are absolutely right the people of Saint John Harbour did not indeed fall for her or Bernard's writtin rederick as much as her small little group tried.
I gotta tell you even if it would have cost 50 bucks I would pay to do it all over again but I'll stop there so I don't give away all the drama and you be the Judge tomorrow night at 8pm on rogers 10 oh and bring some popcorn and tell the kids to go to bed because you don't want to miss it!!!

oh me so happy!

People see through Hooton. Yes she resinded the Deal but all along she was for the tax deal for the billionaires and has hurt the people of Saint John for 25 years or fifty years because we need time to catch if that will ever happen. Several spoke to her one on one and she did not want to listen or respectly respond except to say let's move on it is a done deal. Caring for Saint John is more then talking, smiling, and outwarding promising to get the vote. You can't walk the walk. Give Hooton and Lord the Booton!

I hope she knows someone who's good at undoing knots because she was so tongue tied last night it'll probably take most of today just to get those knots out!!

Talk of the Town should be good this morning.
She was so desperate she even used Rick Mantle as an excuse for her bad publicity saying a local radio show was giving her a bad wrap!!

Michelle Hooton is my hero : She is going to win, just wait and see.

I even got her Autograph.

Charles Michelle won the debate 8:14 must have had his head so far up Ed's ass he couldn't hear because the only thing that i can remember with studdering was Ed on greeen house gases. "I will increase the greenhouse gases" was an exact quote so whoever is 8:14 tongiht you will look so dumb to have said that because the tape will prove itself who needs to get there tongue untwisted. The proof will be in the pudding and the pudding is the videotape of the debate. We're Rooton for Hooton

Here's the interesting new twist - independent Glen Jardine. Let's be honest any votes he gets are only going to hurt the Liberals and NDP. People are either going to vote for Hooton or vote against her as a message to Government. That means Jardine will pick up votes from people who wouldn't have voted for Hooton anyway but don't like any of the three political parties. I don't expecte Jardine will get a lot of votes but if it's a tight race as a few here think it is, a few hundred votes could make the difference. I still think Hooton is more likley to walk away with it and that's not a personal preference because I don't live there and it won't change government so I could care less who wins.

Spinks, I suppose there will be a few who are going to read the Irving flyer this morning and be mislead by their personal opinion as they try to convince the public that Michelle Hooten held her own.
Which is off the mark as will be self evident this evening at 8pm on Rogers cable10 if they don't edit any content from the debate and play it in it's entirety.
There really wasn't a clear winner last night but she certainly did not hold her own as the Irving Media would have you believe.
You may find tomorrow morning you might be commenting from a different angle.
It will be interesting to see whether or not you still hold your position in the morning I'll be looking forward to reading your comment at that time.

Like I said SJ, I have no position merely observations but sure I'm hoping to catch tomorrow night's debate for myself. It sounds like it was lively.

I notice in the picture Michelle Hooten has her Candidate Bi-Election Kit in front of her,It must have been a gift from Mr.Lord, to bad it didn't help much.
Maybe in the next debate he can send her the updated version.
Debating for dummies you know the hard cover version.

I notice also that Ed had his little black book. Must be writing down peoples names to screw if he gets elected, just like his federal cousins in Ottawa.

1:11 PM you must be talking about Lord. He is f***ing so good at retaliating. He threatened voters who did not Tory after 2003 election.

Two excellant posts as this is exactly the way I saw it and I was there! I agree 100% also the final question that was asked was if you can only do one of what is being saked of you tonight Mrs. Hooten chose low income housing and pretty streets NOT feed the children NOT better education NOT poverty or anything related to poverty
I guess she believes if you are able to pay low rent you can eat the walls and go out to the pretty streets and eat the flowers.

I hope Michelle Hootn wins. Charles said he wouldn't blog for 2 weekss if she did.

She's the Lady to take the riding into far greater and bigger things.

Keep Rooton for Hooton, she's my Hero.

Anonymous said...

Daniel Hooton, she is your hero because apparently you are related to her. Your loyality is appreciated but she is not going to win. Remember Bernard Lord the loser, or should we call him Lord-the- loser, he is the problem. Too bad.

On Nov 14th Mrs.Hooter will not be Tooten her Horn!!She will be Polutin the water with her tears of failure thanks to none other than Mr.Bernard Lord.It figures he would use someone else to take the fall for his failures and be off washing his hands of this whole mess.
We all know when he is done with her there will be no consoling from him or his party.

Lord is good at blaming others. Poor man has difficulty governing because McKenna left so many problems and Martin Federals are responsible for so many problems. Man is a big joke.

I think I finally found out why there are so many anonymous comments. Someone from one of the sides with the rhetoric is going to wear major egg on their face come Nov.15. I think Charles is getting a lot more visitors due to the byelection. Good work Charles.

Believe it or not CBC gave a perfectly spit view of the Bi-Election and I think that was right on!Good for them! There was no favoritizm What so ever.

Spinks said...

Yeah weird huh? LOL. If they keep it up I'll have to rethink my view. Good unbiased job on CBC Radio and CBC Internet too. Although politically they're usually pretty fair. It's social issues where they fall by the wayside. Still, nice job and better than the TJ. The TJ wasn't all that bad but they should have mentioned that the crowd was mostly partisan to one of the three parties as CBC did. That affects how one who wasn't there views the story.

Spinks, Lord government is a failure. No question about that. If Hooton wins that means Lord and his candidate has fooled the people one more time. Nothing more. But I doubt it that people will be fooled this time.

I think debate was draw between three candidates with Dr. Doherty having an edge as his points were more poignant.

I generally do not believe politicians anymore but Lord and his crowd is least believable. The track record of inaction and lies speaks for itself.

Spinks said...

You're entitled to your opinion 9:11 but I have to disagree that if Hooton wins it means the people were fooled. I don't think voters for the most part are fooled by any amount of slickness. If Hooton wins, it's because the voters chose her for whatever reason. If she loses it's because the voters voted for somebody else for whatever reason. I'm always baffled the day after any election when some will say that the voters didn't know what they were doing or voted the wrong way. (note - it's always those on the losing side who say that so take it for what it's worth). Whichever way they go the good people of Saint John Harbour did the right thing for them IMHO.

A friend invited me to talk to Hooten today. I figured I’d ask softball questions, as to not offend my friend. I mentioned to Hooten that it was good to hear that Saint John would be getting 51 units in the uptown - non-profit from what I hear (it was on the news this morning).

Hooten told me that it would be bad for the neighbours (it was going to cast a shadow on their property or something???).

I gave her a chance to redeem herself and said “well its better than the city works building that used to be there a few decades back.” She said the neighbours would prefer THAT in their back yards.

I don’t know about you all, but I think non-profit housing uptown is good. Shouldn’t the uptown MLA agree?

Michelle (Chase) Doherty-Hooton knows exactly what she's doing. If she isn't elected Nov. 14th then she still has her position with the city. If she had any integrity or sense of morals, she would have stepped down as deputy mayor. Campaigning full time can only mean less time spent doing her job as depty mayor & that means representing the city less!! Gee, I wonder where 'her' allegiances lie?

Under that pearly white veneer lies a person driven by how it benefits her so don't be mislead by biblical quotes, family value statements or anything else she 'reads' as it's all window dressing.

Sixteen months as deputy mayor is hardly sufficient ammo to think of becoming an MLA. We need a person with good business accumen who has dealt with the public in a major way, not someone who used to sell flowers or pasta. Someone who can think on their feet & not attack when the pressure is on. Perhaps Ms. Hooton needs a course in media training to keep her emotions neutral.

I wonder what her 'crystal ball'' is telling her these days!!

Anonymous said...

I don't have a crystal ball but one thing is for sure if people are not inform thay deserve to get what they get. Unfortuately they have sentenced us to Lord's government and Hooton grandstanding with her speeches written by who knows who. Please vote Dr. Doherty, give Hooton the Booton.
