WILL UPTOWN SAINT JOHN PAY THE PRICE DEARLY FOR IGNORANCE???

santa

Charles

Just heard Bruce Court on the radio and he said that the group for fair taxation would gladly pay for 3 years a total of $900 and they would not change their minds they perfer a fake 4 foot Santa; nothing against him; just that we here in Saint John had the real Santa. He has been left out in the cold and everyone has forgotten how devasting this has been for Santa. Uptown Saint John won't be getting me to the parade and I'll spend my money in Rothesay or Quispamsis.

The Mayor is Mr Scrooge for Santa at this time. Remember he played Santa with our tax dollars for Irving and Repsol. Lack respect for our Santa who take his job seriously. The new Santa probably recommended by the Mayor; he used him for the tree lighting last year and almost removed the real Santa. Politics at it best. What next for our seniors, give Santa his job back!

Yes I feel it is so wrong and no reason given except something about money and that can't be true. Now we have $900 and still they won't give Santa his job back who volunteered for 7 years and got paid one year. The previous Mayor Shirley McAlary called the radio station and had all kind words for him and said he took time with all the children after and pictures were taken at no cost.
Life is getting less fair for Saint Johner's but now Santa will not have a good Christmas; hard to believe in this community they could not see what it means to have this Santa-- The real deal, looks, voice, height 6'3" or 6'4", over 3 thousand dollars on suits, over hundred dollars on make up; last thing kids can pull his beard and it does not come off. He is Santa year round, how sad and unbelievable.

Just heard that the Imperial had to ask the Real Santa to wait one day and after their new Santa arrives he could go to the Imperial for cookies with the children which was suppose to be Saturady and Sunday. Uptown Saint John has a lot nerve after firing Santa. Also it is not just the parade it is all social events in the store leading to Christmas. How devastating for Santa!
Look Santa has already arrived at the McAllister Mall.

Yes I was listening to CFBC and one lady had a comment about it being the adults problem don't bring this problem to the kids. She said you can't distinquish one Santa from another and they don't pay attention. You are so wrong. He is the Real Santa and maybe as a community we should help him get a movie part and give him more exposure. Besides this Santa isn't your grandfather, father, husband, bother, friend or neighbour who lost his job that he loves so much and lives each day to be Santa. You will go home and life goes on and glad you will have a Merry Christmas because our Saint John Santa won't. Scrooge fired Santa; friends donated $900 and still they won't let Santa have his job back. The new Santa is not anything like our old Santa.
Mayor knows how to treat our senior citizen-Santa so don't forget to let him know how disappointed we our. HUMBUG!

I think some people's obsession with Mayor Norm is showing.

If Bruce Court and his group want to help "the real Santa", why don't they just quietly give him the $900 and let him do his thing wherever?

Their true motives are showing, methinks.

because the solution to a public wrong is not a private right.

Charles I have the name of the new santa. His name is Lionel Brillant. His number is in the phone book if you want to look into this, this comes from an inside city hall worker.

Wow - it's amazing what some people in this town will turn into an issue.... no wonder we can't get the city in gear and moving... we're too busy fighting over who gets to be Santa...

Whoa - publishing names and numbers of people is crossing the line. Charles you should remove it unless anyone can PROVE, and I mean PROVE that this guy got the job via some illegal or unethical way.

And I don't mean rant about it being wrong, I mean PROOF.

Um, the name of the new guy is in the paper this morning. It's no secret.

It's in the paper and I know I won't call the guy...< long distant > and I don't have a phone nyway. I believe that uptown Saint John should backed down because it'll be a public relation nightmare. They made a mistake and the public have spoken. They should back down and rehire the old Santa!

Why would Mayor stoop so low and fire the Santa. There is something wrong. Why take away the simple things that people enjoy. Is this already retaliation because people did not vote for Mayor's candidate. This is truly sad.

Excuse me in was in the paper this morning and no one is crossing the line. The new Santa is not the issue. It is how they dispose of people even Santa so easily. Bruce offered the money because they said it was a money issue. The old Santa never knew they were not going to use him until a few days ago and in fact did not want to bring it out but feeling the devastation he told one person and after that we all wanted Santa to get his job back. Sorry is some people understand the issue and try to make an attack against the Mayor. Last year the New Santa got to be there for the lighting of the tree and now he is the New Santa for now. Someone took pictures and there is know comparing of the two Santa's. if we had time the children could decide which Santa they would want.
This Santa who has been santa for the City for eight years and got paid last year for the first time. He never knew there was an issue but wasn't given the opportunity lke most things that are going on with the City, nothing will ever surprise me again.

You are all missing the point of it all he loves playing Santa and lives and breathes, volunteers for sick children and families. But this year he won't be Santa and that to him hurts alot.

Don't worry this exposure has been giving calls for next year but we want to help him this year, Merry Chritmas Saint John; Humbug Mr. Scrooge. Santa needs to feed his family too ( reindeer and elves and Mrs. Santa Claus ).

Only people who have met and seen the old Santa would be able to understand. I am in my fifties and I have never seen anything in my life so real, the stature, voice, looks, suits ( vary's from Father Christmas to Jolly Santa you see here) spends alot on his suit over $2500 to $3000. He makes a grown man who does not believe in Christmas start to believe. The previous Mayor just loved him; he so caring and thoughtful and trys so hard to listen to the children and always took the time to have pictures taken after the tree lighting. Good Luck Santa hopefully good news comes your way.

I truly believe that once again, this foolish could devide Saint Johners. If Uptown Saint John don't backed down? I feel that Santa could be booed by some bystanders because they wouldn't see Santa but a guy who got the job by who he knows? This could be talked about for months. Lets see what's going to happen? Once you hear the final verdict? Leave a comment in here and I'll blog it!!!!

Missing the point, 6:03?

He loves playing Santa, and Bruce Court has $900 for him. Why doesn't he go ahead and play Santa?

Look, I think Norm MacFarlane is a boob, and the LNG deal reeks. But people, please: a little perspective! Uptown Saint John organizes the parade: they decide who's Santa in the parade.

If someone wants to pay "the real Santa" to be Santa somewhere, let them! The damn mayor can't stop them!

Look he is a professional and you don't steal another Santa's spot. He does not want the money form Bruce nor is he going to such show up where he is not wanted.

It takes a long time to get ready he is not a fake. Okay enough of explaining. Good Luck Santa too bad you didnot know sooner because most Santa's have their jobs now.

Really it is in poor taste to not let Santa know he was being replaced and at a late date that is devasting for old Santa. The news paper is so wrong to blame LNG group. They just wanted to pay for three years and help the city. The telegraph is garbage paper at best I use it to burn.
Thanks for standing up for a job santa lost and never knew he did until last week.

Society is such a disappointment. It would not matter if something is unfair or not right people will some how twist it to their way of thinking just to be able to sleep at night or plan the next attck.

Santa should of been told a long time ago that he is not going to be in the parade so he could of made arrangements somewhere else.

I could understand if he was not a nice Santa but they just fired the best one there ever was in Saint John or NB or anywhere.
I can't begin to understand what this City is trying to do to our people here who deserve respect. Can't wait until we have the Mayor out of office and all his buddies gets fired too. Some day they will get what will just. Disappointed in the process and the end product. Worse Mayor ever!
Shame on Mr. Scrooge. Humbug too you. The Mayor will never understand!

Are you a little thick or slow; Santa doesn't just appear and get a job just like that. The money was an offer to the city to pay Santa if he did the parade and that did not happen. Not many Santa jobs are needed most businesses are cheap and they don't want to pay. It takes Santa Claus two hours to get ready; but it is worth the wait.

Hi instead of going to the parade; we went to the Imperial Sunday and had milk and cookies with Santa and if possible as long as my children want we will continue this new tradition. All had one on one time with Santa, awesome!
Parents were as overwhelmed with emotion as the children were. Treasuring this oportunity that I did not know Saint John had.
Merry Christmas and Happy new Year Saint John; The Real Santa deserves the best in life!
