I'm sorry but I have to use large pictures so you can see them?
Well Friday night was going to be the first time that I was going to be in the same room with a Prime Minitser since Le Congres Mondial in 1994.
In that era it was Jean Chretien acting as Prime Minister and it was an open relationship with the public.
Sure wasn’t the same this time around.
The location Paul Martin was in Lynx at Kingswood golf course clubhouse.
I didn’t know where the area was? But all I knew that it was way too far to walk.
Tim Smith sent me an email that he was going to be there with a crew from Saint John.
Since my buddy was going to be there? I decided that I should attend the little party. I walked by Andy Scott office and got a drive with Doug Tyler.
So? Lucky me? I was one of the first ones on the scene.
The stage was all set up and there were around 20 seats up front.
The first site that attracted my eyes were the security guys in the building.
You could spot them a mille away because there’s no smile or blinking of the eyes. They’re stern and very silent.
That’s the way it is I guess when the Prime Minister comes to town.
I chatted with a few people and I told them that I expected a P.C. minority Government.
A few asked me if I was going to have my picture taken with Paul Martin?
I told them - I don’t believe so! I believe that he wouldn’t have the time and I knew that I had a poor camera that would only take good pictures outside.
Many candidates told me that they read the blog and many just delete the message..lol…all in fun…
I noticed many came from Moncton and Saint John.
Tim showed up with his daughter and the stage was set. I was surprise to see Tim Smith with a tie???
Myself? I knew the small room would be totally full but I just couldn’t see myself sitting in that small room for a couple of hours waiting to listen to the
Prime Minister.
I have ADHD remember? < proud t have this beautiful so call disorder >
Of course, it’ll be wroth it because I could take some good pictures.
But that’s not me!!! I’m just too darn hyper and of course I love to go outside for a smoke.
The people came in big numbers. The place was pack.
Everyone was waiting for the star of the show and at one point? I felt like a movie Star.
While chatting with a few people, a woman approached me and asked - Excuse me? Are you Charles LeBlanc???
I said- Yes???
She continued- The Blogger??
It’s always scary to answer that question?...lol…I told her that I was the blogger! She quickly got excited and told me if I mind that I get my picture taken with her?
I told her that I would gladly do so.
She quickly ran to get her sister’s camera. I told the people around and you people say that I’m making up these stories eh???
I am a star!!!!...lol…all in fun….
She came and took the picture.
She told me that she reads my blog every single day but the interesting part is that she’s not on my email list.
I don’t get paid a single cent for bloggling but it’s action like this one that keeps me going.
She sent me the picture last evening as promised.
More security came in and they quickly separated the crowd so the Prime Minister could walked in the room.
We waited and waited.
I quickly turned around once I heard loud noise by the crowd. The crowd was going nuts!!! It’s him!!! The Prime Minister!!!
Opsss it’s only Shawn Graham!!!!...lol….
I bet he felt like he was in a provincial election.
It started to get crowded and hot. I bumped into the Mayor of Fredericton- Mr.Woodside.
I tried to go in that room where Paul Martin was to speak but was told that only MLA’S AND MP’S are allowed inside.
I quickly replied - What’s more important here???
The voters or the politicians???
All in fun!!!....lol…
Myself and Tim Smith decided to go to a side door and have a smoke.
Once outside, we made certain that we could get back inside so his daughter Sheana stood at the door.
Once outside, we noticed an uncover security outside.
Minutes later, another undercover security showed up and told us that we had seconds to decide to stay outside or go back in?
Tim quickly butted his smoke but I decided to have my smoke and go in the front door.
While walking around the building I notice my soldier buddy still protesting and he had a group of daycare workers with him.
They weren’t allowed to protest in front of the building.
They were located in the left hand side. Out of sight and out of mind I guess.
Once at the main entrance? I noticed the place was full!!! Big time!!
A Liberal organizer quickly told me to keep on walking inside.
It was pretty nice of him because I believe that security had other ideas in mind.
I went inside and I was in front of a group of people.
I felt guilty because I was taller.
One woman was a couple of rows behind and she was all dress in red holding Liberal balloons in each hand saying - I would love to shake the hand of the Prime
Minister!!!
It sorta reminded me of the Beatles ear!
I felt guilty and said - You go ahead and take my place. I don’t care if I shake his hand or not!!!
I proceeded in the back and I noticed a guy sitting on a little couter.
My legs were tired so I made a little jump and sat on the counter.
I was comfortable. I quickly stood up so I could take a good picture of the Prime Minister of Canada.
The crowd went a little crazy and I said - This is it!!!!
Will my batteries hold out????
Now I know the reason these photo journalists always change their batteries because you need a good set of batteries.
Again? It wasn’t the Prime Minister.
It was all the media following the election band wagon.
My God? There must have been close to 100 of them!
They just came and came.
A security individual gave strict orders to the local media how to handle themselves.
Hey? I’m a blogger and I had the best seat in the house.
But that soon came to a close when a lady asked me to step down from the counter.
I quickly sat down but once again stood up when Paul Martin came in.
He walked in and proceeded quickly to the room.
It was over in a matter of minutes.
I told Tim - You should be very happy that you came all the way from Saint John for this eh????
It was bad enough that we couldn’t get into the room but we couldn’t hear what the Prime Minister was saying????
All the people did is chat among each other and we could hear the cheering inside the room.
Left out??? A little???
They should have has speakers so everyone could have heard the speech.
I noticed my old buddy- Wendell Fulton sitting on a bench watching the episode from outside.
This guy is very well known in the political circle and we became good friends.
He told me that all he could see was the top bald spot of Paul Martin’s head.
The Liberals should have invited this guy inside and say him on a chair.
Then we heard a large roar and people quickly left the room.
The speech was over and the Prime Minister was going to come out and meet the supporters but as fast as he came in?
He went out!!!
He ran in his bus and all you could see is a security guy standing at the door inside the bus and quickly shut the door.
The bus left with who I believe was Paul Martin waving to the supporters from inside.
It was over and everyone went home.
I noticed many chatting among each other and it was over!!!
My camera didn’t take good pictures because of the batteries.
Hey? Anyone with a good second hand digital camera out there?
Send me a note!!!...lol…
You know that I will put it to good use.
I love the camera that the stranger gave me but sometime it doesn’t work properly.
So? This was my evening in a room with the Prime Minister of Canada.
By the way??? I asked the woman if she shook hand with Paul Martin and she told me that at the last minute - He turned around he look at the people on the other
side.
I felt sorry for the poor girl.
Beside that? It was a good experience.
