Not made public yet (AS FAR AS I KNOW) but we know that some people did not like it, when people have a voice of their own. They were able to express how they felt or what they heard and finally just to share because they wanted more input from the public.

It has been a difficult couple of years for the citizens of Saint John. I for one want take the time to thank them for all that they were able to do for the people of Saint John.

Yes not all people agree or liked the Talk Show; no one was forced to listen, call or even talk.

Freedom of speech has been altered alot with one corporation being able to process whatever they want and leave some of it out of the news.

Frankly we have no local news on TV, little on the radio and even less in our local papers.

Citizens miss our own local news; a few minutes each night does not quite cut it.

We don't want someone to spoon feed us what we should be thinking about and let them tell us what is acceptable.

People in this area needed a voice even if it was just to say their two cents worth.

Thank you CFBC. I was a regular listener for more then twenty years. It saddens me when the unimportant people (just a phrase I want to use for lack of words) or should I say people who find it difficult to get their voice out there are now stopped.

We want to hear what is happening and what is bothering people. Yes there are alot of people who don't care and can't give you the time of day.

THANK YOU TO THOSE THAT DO CARE AND I HOPE WE GET ANOTHER CHANNEL FOR COMMON FOLKS WHO DON'T HAVE AN AGENDA. This our city not just for the people in power. We pay our taxes we deserve a voice and now we have been slowed down but we will find a way to get our voices heard.

Politicians don't listen either; excuse me only when they are looking to be elected. That is why we don't trust them; all inclusive no behind closed doors deals; promises mean nothing.

Well that is all for now. From someone who gets nervous on the phone that is why I love to listen. Politicians should listen too. Writing helps to voice and express how we feel too.

Thankyou Charles LeBlanc for this opportunity. It means alot for people who are shy. Not just for people who like to criticize or boast.

For many years I listened to Talk of the Town, and occasionally called in, but after Rick Mantle took over it became a lost cause. The same people called everyday and when that happens you only hear one side of a story and it becomes a bunch of losers crying.

Why would you have apicture of Mark Lee as Station Manager??????

Second, have you tried to contact Rick Mantle to hear his take on it? It would be intersting to hear what he has to say on the matter.

This will not appeal to the conspiracy crowd around here, but the most likely explanation, by far, that that the owners of the station think they can make more ad revenue doing something else with the airtime.

I posted Mark Lee picture because someone was sick of seeing Rick's legs!!!!

You need some more inside info Charles..........Mark is no longer there. Neither are any of Mark's protegees.
They have really cleaned house!
They have also lost alot of business as a result of this cleaning house.

Why not wait and see because I'm sure Rick can not speak on the matter.
"Besides no one said you had to call, talk or listen".

Do you not know how to change the channel or pull the plug. I believe you loved listening to what people had to say. Complain if you want, the show, was a voice for people to express their thoughts.
Thank you "CFBC". Irving could have bought them or have some say with the big corporation or sponsors. When they want us to know they will tell; notice the Irving papers say nothing! It speaks volumes.

Everyone is missing the point.

As people stated above, if you don't like it you can change the channel. And that's exactly what people have done in huge numbers. The ratings for CFBC were in the single digits over the last few years. TOTT has fallen far below the numbers they get during the other times of the day. Simple math. You all seem to forget that private radio stations are in the business of making money. If it they can get bigger numbers without TOTT in that time slot, it's gone. You all seem to think they aired TOTT for the good of Saint John and it's citizens.....wake up people....it's all about money and advertizing. TOTT is no longer a vehicle for ratings, so it's gone. Simple. Look for the same direction for CFBC soon.....it can't continue to loose listeners and stay viable. AM is dead. Plain and simple.

Sorry but people have been listening and calling but you choose to deny that people had a voice and engaged in calling.

I believe there is something else behind shutting down this Talk Show.

FM Station could accommodate a talk show for average people but that is not what they want. You can use the AM channel as an excuse but frankly if that was the only reason we wouldn't be talking about it; CFBC would be up and running on an FM Channel. Money can't be the only reason, sponsers also don't want it to happen I'm sure. Yes some advertising corporations stopped the money flow no need to mention who one major one is. Ratings this time is not the true picture.

Most certainly some people have been listening and calling. But nowhere near enough for this show to continue to be viable. Once again you seem to want to ignore the business realities. Also you are forgetting that MBS has shown from the day they bought the three Saint John stations that CFBC is unimportant, otherwise, as you point out it would have been on FM a long time ago. What about the fact it has been relegated to such limited power it barely can be heard outside the city limit? Halifax based MBS President & CEO Robert Pace could care less about Saint John and the issues you obviously feel so strongly about. Sorry if you can't get that through your head, but that is the way it is. Look around the maritimes at the rest of the MBS stations, and tell me how many talk shows you find. In all honesty, it's surprising it lasted as long as it did under the present regime. Word is, it almost got the hook last year, but was given a temporary reprieve. I'll be surprised if CFBC still exists within a year or two. TOTT has become a money loser of the last few years whether you want to acknowledge it or not. You are letting your feelings get in the way of facts. You are also betraying the fact that you obviously know nothing whatsoever about the highly competitive radio market, and its realities. But hey, if your conspiracy theory helps make it better for you, then whatever.

By the way, just so you know, i'm not happy TOTT is gone, but i've seen the writing on the wall for a long time now. This has been in process for awhile.

Yes if the writing is from the Billionaires in our city we all seen that was possible.

This show will be missed by people who can't speak out because of the fear but won't stop the people.

Everyone is not blind but we know running one more year could of helped the people but we know why it was stopped.

Irvingville is waht this area should be called and we should just deposit our taxes in their Irving Bank!

Sad news today in the Irving Paper...TOTT is CANCELLED!!!
I believe there is much more to this story than money. Free speech hurts the Irvings..our Mayor and council...the good Lord group in Fredericton because people spoke the truth. If ever TOTT was needed it is now before an election, especially here in Saint John where we have witnessed so many corrupt games.

Bottom Line if not money and we know people listen and call in--
CONTROL of what is said and what people share. Yes people had a voice but they like it when we don't.

I could see this coming, the show was talking about things that some
people didn't want discussed. So much for free speech.

hi charles,

just a comment, i have been listening to "Talk of the town" from the begining, rick mantle wether you liked him or not was an excellent commentator, you either liked him or not, but thats what made the show interesting.

It's a darn shame that cfbc "talk of the town", could live through the groundhog day Gales, but, when the mayor and the Irvings speak, its gone.

Hope the people of st john remember this on election day, I'm sure Mayor Mcfarlane is breathing much easier and so is the pipeline people.

Frank Drost- one who is loyal enough to give my name, not backstabbing people , who some can't , stand for anything.
