Such a handsome man and what a tragic end. For what? Harpo's face must be way up in Bush's a*s. Come next election you will pay Harpo. I promise on behalf of all those who lost their loved ones to this dangerous Bush's adventures endangering world peace.

I'm curious as to what the naysayers suggest we do in Afghanistan. Pull out and let the Taliban take over again or is there some other suggestion? I see lots of condemning but I like to think these same folks don't advocate going back to Taliban rule. Maybe they do. What say you?

I feel that Afghanistan is indeed a very difficult place to fix up. Thousands of years fighting amongst themselves let alone with outsiders. However, I do agree that we should be there to try as the approach is generally one of trying to rebuild the country and not occupy and conquer it as the Brits and Russians tried. Read the article in the Telegraph Journal (although I am far from a fan of that paper) in Wednesday edition regarding girls and schooling in Afghanistan. If you want the Taliban to continue to try to intimidate (by beheading a teacher in front of a class of children) the people with their own brand of justice, then perhaps we should leave it alone!? Crime was probably less when the Taliban were in power but then again, crime was also less in Germany when Hitler reigned!

This guy voluntarily signed up for a job as a solider. He knew exactly what risks were involved in the job. Wasn't his death an accidental death anyway? What makes him any more important than any other Canadians who die on the job? Nothing. Other Canadians (like policemen, firemen, etc. unless it is a high profile news story) don't have Ottawa flags lowered if they die on the job, so why should these be any different?

I agree that the flag shouldn't be lowered constantly. It should only be lowered for Remembrance Day, for a dignitary's death or if a large number of Canadians perish at once. If it was lowered all of the time, it would diminish in symbolism and not stand out as much to Canadians.

10:03 PM according to you a teacher was beheaded in front children. May be it is just Bush propaganda. Now what allied army is doing is killing parents in front of their children. What is worse? Canadians have no business being there and our young men/women must not lose their lives to a Bush's war.

You think there is more democracy now in Afghanistan. Total baloney. You cannot walk around without being shot at or killed by so-called liberation forces.

Afghanis never invited Bush or other foreign forces to come in. Was there a referendum held where they said come on in. No. Vast majority will say please take your freedom and shove it and leave our country alone.

It is an illegal invasion and only reason U.S is getting away with it because it is a superpower. I see more dying and more killing. Democracy? Bush should keep it and shove is up his....
