Now I will ask the question? If you go by the Jehovah's Witnesses laws?

This baby would meet a certain death.

I’m asking the question?

Do you believe the Jehovah’s witness are in the right in letting a baby die by denying the child a pint of blood?

My answer is a big NON!!!!!

What’s your view on this emotional issue?

Aey Anonymous, The bible does not tell you not to accept blood transfusions, It does however tell us in Leviticus not to eat anything with blood in it because it is unclean. Now that was god's law for the people of israel of that day. I do understand why some people don't want transfusions, and that is because of the tainted blood scandles where people have contracted HIV, and other seriously harmful Diseses To date, there are only three ways that someone can contract HIV the Virus that results in full blown Aids. and that is the following ways. 1. Blood transfusion, unless blood is properly screened it can be contaminated. 2. intravenus drug use. (using dirty needles). 3. Un-protected Sex or, sex with an infected partner.

I do Understand why the Jahova Witnesses don't wish blood transfusions. But that does not mean I absolutely agree with it. Unless there is another way to receive the neutrients needed to replenish the bodys supply.

HIV is pretty much impossible to get from a blood transfusion. Ever donate blood? It takes for frickin ever! They ask so many questions about your sex life, drug use, tattoos etc,and if you've ever had interveinous drugs or sex with someone from africa they are like, no way!!! they also test the blood for infections, and if anything comes up, they ocntact the donor!

I think it is abuse to refuse your child a life saving blood transfusion. Screw whatever their bible says! Jesus would have been a blood donor!

Tis one thing the witness got right.More people died from getting blood then lived from it.
One of the worlds biggest farces.

Mr. McKay,
Here are ALL the facts on JW's and refusal of blood transfusions. I say let the baby live, but I'm not JW.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Bible teaches:

blood is sacred to God
blood means life in God's eyes;
blood must not be eaten;
blood leaving the body of a human or animal must be disposed of;
Christians must "abstain" from blood in the sense used at Acts 15:29 (NWT);
blood was reserved for only one special use, the atonement for sins, which lead up to Jesus' shed blood;
when a Christian abstains from blood, he or she is in effect expressing faith that "only the shed blood of Jesus Christ can truly redeem him and save his life.-Ephesians 1:7"; [1]
even in the case of an emergency, it is not permissible to sustain a life with blood; and
that violation of the doctrine on blood is a serious offense in which a member may be no longer considered a Witness.
These beliefs about blood affect their acceptance of products containing blood or its components and medical procedures involving the use, re-use and storage of blood. While this stance has largely remained unchanged since its introduction in 1945, the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses has changed its views on which products and procedures may be considered acceptable to the conscience of each individual Jehovah's Witness.

Paul Martin was on the board of the Canadian Development Corporation (CDC) from 1981-1987, during the time hemophiliacs were infected with tainted blood. The CDC was the holding company for the private company, Connaught Laboratories, the major supplier of blood products in Canada, specifically Factor VIII used by hemophiliacs.

In the mid-1980s, as contaminated blood flowed from Arkansas inmates to other countries, then-Governor W.J. Clinton sat on his hands despite evidence of severe mismanagement in his prison system and its medical operations. . .

Some of the killer blood ended up in Canada where it contributed to the deaths of an unknown number of blood and plasma recipients. An estimated 2,000 Canadian recipients of blood and related products got the AIDS virus between 1980 and 1985. At least 60,000 Canadians were infected with the hepatitis C virus between 1980 and 1990. Arkansas was one of the few sources of bad blood during this period. . .

Other Arkansas plasma was sent to Switzerland, Spain, Japan, and Italy. In a case with strong echoes of the Arkansas scandal, a former premier of France and two of his cabinet colleagues are currently on trial stemming from the wrongful handling of blood supplies. Some of the blood in the French controversy may have come from Arkansas.
