This is one site you never see in this city, province or country.
I remember when I first landed in this City in 2003.
I noticed this Antique Store in the rough part of the City.
It’s an area where drugs and alcohol are very much alive.
I noticed the owner Ed Macnevin left all his antiques outside on the front porch.
Guess what? He’s been going this for the last seven years and never had his items stolen.
Ed told me that one evening, one rocking chair was gone. One guy noticed the antiques located at a corner at 4:00am but didn’t bother bringing the chair back because the cops would have blamed him.
On another occasion, the wife of a drunk came over and told Ed that her drunken husband showed up with a chair.
Ed told me that he installed a wire across the front porch so the people who are too drunk wouldn’t be able to go over the cable to sit in the rocking chair.
Yes, if this site was located in Saint John? Those antique would be gone in minutes!
Ed made it very clear that he’s very polite to the people with drug or alcohol problems so therefore they return the politeness by not stealing the items from the store.
Yes, it goes to prove that respect can indeed go a very long way!!!

There's alot of good people down and something has to give. Give them a chance (Methadone, a place to live) and payback would be great. More needs to be done thats for sure.
