Love him or hate him, Manning's the man

Boards of Trade often sit in the background and nod approvingly as projects come to town and voice disappointment when they leave or don't materialize, but they rarely go on the offensive.
Bob Manning's blunt inaugural speech as the chairman of the Saint John Board of Trade in May let board members know that the group was taking a new path - some would love him for it and others would despise him. Manning was steering the 187-year old board down a more proactive, confrontational road with what he called "anti-development" groups. If those groups considered themselves defenders of the public trust, then he felt that the board should be the defender of business development. He left little doubt he wanted the board to drop the gloves and fight fire with fire.
The most public fight has been the board's choice to champion making Saint John an energy hub and the no-apologies support for the pipeline through Rockwood Park.

If he, Glen Tait and Ivan Court run Manning will take it. Tait and Court will split the left wing voters.
Maybe this guy would straighten them out. Please blog on the fact that city councillors Chase, Change, Court, Farren and Ferguson have agreed to a motion that delays non-profit low income housing in Saint John so that the city staff can (for a third of forth time) try to make it prettier for the rich neighbours.
Manning and Tait are certainly getting Irving ink that is for sure.
When we see what has been going on we all thought the very same.
Neither will get our votes we see they are grooming a new Irving support goup.
They know people will not vote for those we turned their backs on the people of Saint John. They sure are trying to spin things in that direction.
Manning doesnot deserve our vote and for now he can't get it; he does not live in Saint John but has more say then he should. Thanks to our Mayor who likes outsiders to run his side show.
Seniors and average people are given the time of day. We don't rate. The Mayor believes brainwashing some Chinese and filling them them with stories of how great it is in Saint John is going to do it.
When you buy land and a house it doesnot mean you can't have it taken away; just asked the people of RedHead and other areas where developement is taking over their quality of life.
New Mayor and Councillors last elections didnot improve alot in our city but one things is for sure most of us won't be able to stay and afford the taxes that will be coming this year and in the next few years.
To be able to afford to pay the high taxes is another reaon they are looking for wealthy people to come. Inclusive has a different meaning for the mayor-- we are only included to foot the bills.
Notice how little say people have when they speak up; they are bullies or dismissed time after time.
Now to add to some more brain washing they will spend from $200 to $300 thousand to explain things; guessing they think we are slow or mentally challenged.
When we can we will give them a boot to the curb. Unfortunately they will bring out a new group who will run for Mayor and Council and they will also lie even better then those who came before.
Mayor and five or six councillors as a total package has hurt us the last few years and they are not done yet. Happy New Year!
Irving paper will run and support who they want; don't be folled again.
Fooled! Fools can be easily infuenced. Money is all they want from us and frankly if we moved they would love that too. Land and money is all it is about. Not respect of people or any quality of life. Wealthy people don't understand anything but money.
