The City should step up to the plate on this one???

People are dumping their garbage on FAPO because it's expensive to hire a truck and bring it to the dump.

If they work during the week, most people can only do that on a Saturday and the dump is only open til 12 noon on Saturday.

Other people have no excuse, they refuse to bring it to the dump themselves and see FAPO as their personal dumping ground.

It's really disgusting, and it's not just FAPO, the Salvation Army has the same problem.

In Saint John they have a day every month where they collect large items.

If the City of Fredericton wants to help Wal Mart and other big store that produce junk for the landfill, then they have to help these non-profits who are struggling to deal with the excess waste produced by these big stores.

If the City wants to get serious about the environment, it has to help; Otherwise, FAPO will have to cordon off the area and pretty soon the fridges, stoves, couches and beds are going to end up on city streets.

I thought that the city has a spring clean up week. And what does the city do for Wall Mart concerning their garbige?

I don't see your point on this.

Does the city own the landfill? or is the landfill a private company?

I dont' think this is a city problem but I could be wrong.

Suggesting that its expensive or inconvenient for some is no excuse, if you can drive to FAPO and throw your garbage in their driveway then you can darn well take it to the dump. Its not a matter of expense these people are lazy lowlife's that do not deserve any sympathy no matter what there income is. The city does pick up large items at least a couple of times of the year I use the service at least once every year. I don't know if they take large items household items like fridges or stoves but even if they don't that's no reason to dump your trash onto someone else's property. As for suggesting the city hauls away the garbage from places like Wal-Mart, just take a few minutes and look around at the dumpsters. Stores of any size pay for the privilege of having their garbage moved the city doesn't give them any deals.
