No inquiry on Watters drug use!

Gleaner Staff.

"You could go around saying that I smoked marijuana but you would have to have enough evidence to go before a judge and that would mean finding me in possession of it."

Fredericton City Police won't launch an inquiry into lawyer Danny Watters, based on his admission that he regularly uses marijuana. Cpl. David Moore said simply admitting to having smoked marijuana is insufficient grounds for pressing a criminal case.

Watters said in a news story that he has used marijuana in the past and continues to do so. ''We can't charge people because they say 'Oh yeah, I smoke pot,' '' Moore explained. You could go around saying that I smoked marijuana but you would have to have enough evidence to go before a judge and that would mean finding me in possession of it.

''You could go around saying that I smoked marijuana but you would have to have enough evidence to go before a judge and that would mean finding me in possession of it.'' Moore said if Watters were to openly smoke a joint in public and an officer came upon him, he could be charged for possession of a narcotic.

''If Mr. Watters wants to make a public issue out of this and take out a joint in front of everybody, and we saw him, we would treat him no differently than we would anyone else,'' Moore said. The Law Society of New Brunswick, meanwhile, has a copy of The Daily Gleaner's story about Watters, confirmed Michel Carrier, secretary of the society.

Watters has been an outspoken critic of drug laws prohibiting the use of marijuana and has been an advocate for its legalization.

Carrier said because there have been no formal complaints, nor any criminal charges against Watters, the law society hasn't decided whether an investigation will take place. ''It's our job to keep lawyers in line,'' Carrier said. ''But this is not a priority. We're just discussing it before we determine what we're going to do.''

Watters - Glen Abbott's longtime friend Danny Watters talks with the Daily Gleaner about his support for and use of illegal drugs. You might remember Mr. Watters as the veteran Fredericton lawyer that was offering his unsolicited advice to us in an article in this paper dated January 07,1998. In that article he appeared to be trying to help his friends in the Justice Department cover-up their underhanded dealings.

Don't take things out of context. Lots of people think Trudeau was great, but he didnt' say Toft was great and that nothing out of the ordinary happened at Kingsclear. What he said was that when you stick a bunch of boys together then its no surprise thats where the pedophiles head. He said Toft was simply 'programmed' for sex with boys, something that is becoming increasingly clear with pedophiles. It's a sickness and the best way to do that is ensure they have no access to kids-his objection to jails is evidence that he knows kids aren't safe in juvie. That's actually pretty smart, so don't take things out of context.

He's got his own opinions to be sure, however, he's far from the only one that thinks pot should be illegal. The majority of canadians agree with him on that one.

He said that toft was a very, very nice man.
He said that toft just committed criminal acts with kids who sold sex on the streets, and fatherless children(you and watters and trudeau think thats ok,but the law states different, and the law reflects societies view.)Watters thinks only toft made a few mistakes, the facts are many were involved including rcmp, rcmp commissioner, and political people.
Honest RCMP and honest people (not you two)are ready and waiting to tell what they know of this disgusting period of years of abuse.Anyone who tries to defend a pedophile is worse then a pedophile.
Which sounds like a name for someone 50 years old who marries a teenager.
A bunch of boys were not "stuck together",they were detained by the establishment,(headed by homo's)and had every right to be protected.Everyone at that place knew what was going on.Regardless of what you two think,it wasn't a simple matter.Smart is not the word for you two.
