HAVING PRIDE IN OUR OWN LITTLE WAYS!!!!!

Flags? For some it’s an important issue but for others it’s a piece of rag flapping in the wind.

Myself, I always love my Acadian flag.




As a matter of fact, this issue was one of my first letter to the editor in the 70s.

I wrote a letter to then Premier Richard Hatfield asking the Premier to fly the Acadian flag on top of the Legislature with the Union Jack.



The C.O.R. Party came in the early 90s and demanded that the Government of the day remove the Acadian Flag at the Legislature.



I was so upset that I disrupted the C.O.R. General meeting in Saint John. < It made National headlines >

These days, the Anglo Society want each City in New Brunswick to fly their unique flag during a week in September.



It got so bad that a confrontation happened in the Capital on August 15th which the President of the Anglo Society was charge with assault. < foolish charge >

During my protest, the Union Jack was flying on one hock only.< look like a pirate flag > It flew like this for 5 days.



Myself and Matthew Glenn stood together with a blowhorn demanding the Government to fix the British Flag.

Once a flag is damage by the heavy winds, I would remind the staff at the Legislature to install a new one.

I would always look at the Courtesy pole in front of the Legislature to see which flag is flying.

In past practice, they flew the Union Jack at half mast on Remembrance Day but I changed all this by suggesting the Canadian flag should be there.



I might add they agreed with my suggestion.

Last spring while in Saint John for a visit.

I noticed the Canadian flag flying while it was half ripped apart.



After bloggling the story, days later a new flag was flying at the French Fort.



The huge Beaverbrook Hotel in the Capital didn’t fly the Canadian flag for a few days and it looked empty.



If there’s still no flag in a few days, I will make a complaint to the staff.

High buildings in different Cites have a responsibility to maintain their flags.



There’s nothing uglier than a ripped or damage flag on top of a building.

Yes, we all have our own little pride about different flags in our Country and I believe this is a good thing.

SAINT JOHN HAS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR BRIDGES!!!!

How many bridges do they have in Fredericton?

In Saint John we have one little bridge (Reversing Falls) that is a way to get from West Saint John to the Northend.



Then we have the Harbour Bridge which connects the Westside to the uptown area and north. We have to pay a toll of 25 cents or 15 cents if you purchase tokens.




We have been paying for a bridge that they keep borrowing money from or probably the money just never went to paying for the bridge.



This loan should be written off but for some reason it won't happen.

Westsiders have never been given respect as far as businesses developing in our area.

If they put a toll at the beginning of the off ramp of the McKay Highway coming into the city then we could say we are treated fairly.

It angers me that our Mayor wants us to keep paying, paying and paying.



All citizens should be treated with respect.

They could take the tolls off when one bridge is under repair but no they are so greedy that the vehicles have to idle burning fuel for 20 to 30 mintes at peak times.

The cost and pollution is too much.

Saint John is the only Bridge in NB that has a toll. ( or am I wrong?)

We are also the only area with a Mayor that gives millions away just to turn around make the little guy pay forever.



Give the citizens of Saint John respect.

This bridge get us from one side to the other nothing special but a make work project- a complete waste of taxpayers money.

Please I want to know more information about the Fredericton bridges.

NEW BRUNSWICK AND CANADA ARE KILLING OUR CHILDREN????

Thanks for posting the information. It is strange now more and more people
are exposing the side effects of these dangerous drugs children are
being given Health Canada comes up with they will check out the data on the
research done by these pharma companies who make the drug.

We know that Health Canada has to ask permission from the drug companies to print
the "bad results" and most of the time they say no, so how can they check
out the suicidial thoughts and deaths and the real results when they were
not allowed to publish them.

PLUS we also know that our governments both provincial and federal have not been reading the FDA warnings to closely.

They have only been out since early this regarding Ritalin etc. Why is it
Canada can't just say lets be first and get these drugs out of the hands of
kids and find the real reason for all of this "behaviour" problem.

I don't know a soul who doesn't fall into the critia of ADD or ADHD, everyone
of us, loses their thoughts espically when they are listening something that
is boring.

Moves around, who doesn't how many times have you sat and listened to someone who is putting you to sleep and your suddenly realize your legs are going to sleep, then your fingers need to move, we all do this sort of thing.

With children many can't read, or have had no food trouble at home or heaven help us has a true medical problem like allergies, liver or heart disease, how about hypolgycemia over weight, it would be to much for psychs to actually think maybe the child needs a full medical check up.

The teachers are not doctors but are acting like them. Sorry I am getting so fed
up with the slowness of our Health Canada.

How many children have to be drugged and how have to die or try to commit suicide or become violent forsomeone in the government to say..."Wait a minute CCHR has a point
here, these drugs are dangerous...."

I just received this comment in the blog....Point of concern....Irving security must be in the telegraph journal office. The Irvings must be watching their reporters very closely!




Here used to be a good mag.......of course, that was before it was bought by Irvings.
And get a load of this: the editor gave 2 weeks notice on Monday but when she went in at work on Thursday, she was locked out of her computer and escorted of the premises. And I find this too funny: the new editor was their distrubition manager!

3:00 a.m., every night I am awakened by the smell of sulphur. I live on the East Side of Saint John, and there is a clear line of sight directly through the Irving Oil Refinery, and beyond to Courtenay Bay. The prevailent winds always bring the smell of SULPHUR right to my doorstep, and in through the cracks and seams of my house. It's somewhere between burnt matches, and rotten eggs. If indeed there are any pollution monitoring systems in place, They MUST be indicating excessive emmissions. Why is it that you never hear anything about it? Why is it that there is absolutely no authority to which one might report or complain to. Is there no recourse for a tax-paying citizen who is being slowly poisoned to death? Remember, NO members of the Irving family live in Champlain Heights. What about the residue and particulate that residents of this area must remove from their homes and vehicles. I suggest collection procedures be effected by these people. If indeed these compounds are harmless as we are led to believe, then there should be no problem with delivering the same(strange powders)back to the point of origin... "Here, I think you left something in my yard."

THE IRVINGS IN NEW BRUNSWICK - I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T OWN THIS NEWSPAPER!!!

I guess this is the true independant newspaper in New Brunswick. They don't own this one. It's own by the Freemans from Nova Scotia. Does anyone out there know the reason the Irvings didn't buy this newspaper?
