My God...what an experience and a learning one at that!!!!

I learned a lot during these last few months.

I found out that Harold Doherty is a fantastic lawyer.

He’s like a pittbull in action. I knew the guy before he offered his services but not this Iron Horse who showed up in court.

IMG_2909

I won’t go into any details because I promise Harold that I wouldn’t blog nothing about the trial.

But trust me? I’ll make up for lost time when this issue will come to a close at 10:00am!

I had a nightmare last evening. There I was in court standing in front of a judge and the verdict was guilty and I was sentenced to two years in jail.

I almost took a heart attack and to jail I went.

I later found out the Judge was murdered and we found out it was an Irving employee who played the part of the Judge. < It was just like a Mission Impossible movie!!! >

mibut5

I woke up in sweat and wondered what I ate before going to bed???..lol..

Come on....everyone needs a good laugh once in a while....lol...

Ok....10:00am in the morning and lets see what’s going to happen?

I made a promise to my lawyer not to blog any issues so I’ll leave it at that!

Since there’s many around the world who are watching this very closely? After the verdict comes down?

A STORY FROM THE BARON NEWSPAPER AT UNBSJ!!!

I must give credit where it's due! That girl had more patience than me to stay in the court room. This is from my court trial on November 2th!

Enjoy!!!

“The bottom line of this trial is freedom of speech!” claimed Charles LeBlanc after his first day in a Saint John courtroom. Although he is formally charged with obstruction, Mr. LeBlanc believes that this trial goes far beyond that. According to Mr. LeBlanc, this case will not only determine if he was obstructing a police officer at the “Reaching Atlantica” conference on June 9th, but will test the definition of journalism in the province.

The first day of the trial of Charles LeBlanc was held at Saint John City Hall on November 2nd and was attended by LeBlanc supporters, local media and members of the Saint John Police Force.

At the end of the day, the prosecution had presented 11 witnesses, none of whom produced any evidence directly concerning Mr. LeBlanc’s charge of obstruction.

The majority of testimony concerned the group of protestors who attempted to force their way into the Atlantica conference. According to witnesses, a group of approximately 20 masked protestors swarmed the doors of the Trade and Convention Centre, trying to force their way past members of the Saint John Police Force. The protesters were allegedly behaving very aggressively, chanting “Stop Atlantica!” and “You’re being watched!”

Many of the witnesses found the whole experience quite frightening.
Terri MacDonald Riedle, president of Revolution Strategy and event organizer, was outside the Trade and Convention Centre when things began to get rough.

Masked protestors began pushing the two police officers hired by the conference back towards the doors, shouting “We have a right to be here!” Many of the protesters were carrying digital cameras and video cameras, chanting “You’re being watched!”

Most of the staff retreated to the shelter of the registration area, located in the coat check kiosk, and closed the gate. As Ms. MacDonald Riedle placed a call to 911, the uproar continued.

She could hear police and protestors yelling and tables being pushed around. She estimated that the chaos continued for five minutes before the police regained control of the situation.

Harold Doherty, Mr. LeBlanc’s defence attorney, questioned Ms. MacDonald Riedle at length about the “Reaching Atlantica” media passes.

She stated that there were no specific qualifications required for a pass, but the applicant did have to be a member of the media. Ms. MacDonald Riedle claimed that invitations were sent out to all the major media outlets in the city; newspapers, radio and television stations.

Mr. Doherty made a point to remind her that all the newspapers in the province are owned by the Irvings.

When asked if she knew anything about Charles LeBlanc applying for a media pass, Ms. MacDonald Riedle stated that she did not.

The trial is set to resume on November 20th at 9:30 am.

Charles LeBlanc, who was just voted “Local hero for actions” in here magazine’s “Best of Fredericton” poll, claims that he was not involved with the protestors at all.

He was just chasing a scoop for his blog, and standing with the rest of the media representatives.

Mr. LeBlanc also claims that the members of the Saint John Police Force were overly aggressive towards him and deleted all his pictures. “If I lose this case, only Irving employees will be allowed to take pictures in the province of New Brunswick!” said Mr. LeBlanc. “

You’ll have to phone an Irving employee if you see anything newsworthy!

The Police could attack anyone on the street with a camera and delete their pictures. This could be the new law in Canada!”

Judge William McCarroll could rule on the obstruction charges as soon as November 20th, if the case is completed on that day.

However, an individual’s ability to take independent photos in the province has yet to be addressed.

In the meantime, independent media, such as the Baron, will continue to forge on into the future, taking pictures as they desire.

THE POOR PEOPLE HAVE MANY SAD STORIES TO SHARE WITH THE GOVERNMENT!!!!

I waited to write about this issue for months and months. I feel it’s a very important one and I don’t understand the reason I delay this one.

Last winter, I was asked by someone who works for the Federal Government to asked any poor person in the Capital to meet in a secret place.

They would pay each individual 20 bucks each just for showing up.

It was at a very secret location because if New Brunswick Family Services found out the poor were being paid 20 bucks?

They would have invaded the location and cut off the welfare recipient’s check because they didn’t disclose the money to the bureaucrats.

I found around 20 people and they all showed up for the meeting. It was cold outside and it was in the afternoon.

The people in charge of the meeting went around and gave everyone 20 bucks!!!

I said to myself - Boy!!!! That’s a huge mistake because now a few will say - Excuse me? I have to use the washroom and BINGO they will be gone with their money!

The meeting lasted for more than two hours and I was very outspoken at that one. < Surprise? >...lol

These poor people were force to listen to me. My God? They should have been paid much more!!!......lol....

Guess what?

NOT ONE SINGLE INDIVIDUAL LEFT THE MEETING!!!!

You know why??? They wanted someone to listen to their sad stories.

There’s no place in Fredericton where a poor person can share their sad stories.

Take a look at the Common Front for Social Justice over one month ago.

This woman Irma Munn was asked to speak in front of 200 people.

IMG_1620

It's everyone who's like me to speak out in front of an audience.

IMG_1504

She lasted around five minutes before starting to cry and quickly ran outside the building.

I quickly followed Irma and told her that this was indeed her 15 minutes of fame and she should go back in there and speak proudly to the audience.

IMG_1617

She did just that and everyone had tears in their eyes.

IMG_1628

Yesterday, I noticed the French CBC crew at the soup kitchen interviewing the poor.

IMG_2920IMG_2921

Everyone wanted to tell the media their sad stories but you can just report so much.

The poor in this Province are in desperate need for people they can chat with.

IMG_1612

The Government must act on this issue but the question is how?????

I noticed this cat running across the busy street. The cat almost got hit by a car.

Anyway, he began to jump on me like a dog would. I never saw a cat so friendly.

IMG_2955IMG_2954

I couldn’t leave the cat alone so I grabbed the cute little thing but I had a problem? What to do with the darn thing?

I knew a woman in the area so I knocked at her door.

A stranger answered the door and said- That’s my kitty!!!! Well, I got lucky that I knocked at the right door. Cute little thing!!! Everyone was happy so I went home!!!

This guy really works hard for New Brunswickers!!!

Harper Conservatives Reject National Autism Strategy

The Harper government has indicated that it will fund a research chair in autism which, in itself, is a good thing.

Unfortunately it is being done to placate the autism community and maintain its public relations image as it rejects a Private Members motion by Liberal Andy Scott and NDP Peter Stoffer which calls for a more comprehensive and serious national autism strategy. If the Harper conservatives reject this motion families and friends of autistic children and adults should prepare to organize and vote against Harper Conservatives in the next federal election.

Approximately 1 in 166 Canadians have an autism spectrum disorder. If we organize effectively we should be able to have some impact; especially if the vote is close in specific ridings.

WHAT'S THE TRUE REASON THE IRVINGS DIDN'T COVER MY TRIAL????

irving
Originally uploaded by Oldmaison.
I must give an opinion on one issue about my trial in Saint John.

The first day I was arrested? The Irvings named me a protester in their papers.

IMG_2904

The second time they again wrote - Protester Charles LeBlanc!

I just ignored the issue until a few people confront me on the streets.

I said - Enough is enough!!!

I called the Irving paper and the editor was very rude to me. I decided to play their little game so I wrote a letter to the editor telling the readers that I wasn’t a protester. I was a blogger!!!

My letter was not printed so I wrote an email telling the paper to warn Jamie Irving that I will pursue this issue big time. I will blog this issue to death.

The next day, my letter was printed.

The next time I appear in court the Irvings covered the story.

The story they printed was ok until the last paragraph.

The Irvings wrote - Charles was ban from the New Brunswick Legislature for harassing the public.

This issue had nothing to do with my trial. It was just a way to discredit me.

They could have written - Allegedly or supposedly harass the public?

I wrote a letter to the editor about this issue but the Irvings wouldn’t print the story.

I sent a letter of complaint to Senator Munson but never received a reply.

You can read my presentation to the Senate by clicking below-

So? My first day in court on Monday. I noticed the CBC team was in the court room but no Irvings.

IMG_2895

I was told yesterday there was a story in the paper.

I check it out and it was this-

Officer deletes photo at arrest

Telegraph-Journal
As published on page B2 on November 21, 2006

SAINT JOHN - A Saint John police officer who pinned Charles LeBlanc to the ground during a protest in the summer testified Monday that he deliberately deleted a digital images of himself off the blogger's camera.

Sgt. John Parks told the court he arrested LeBlanc as approximately 30 to 40 protesters attempted to storm the convention centre, the CBC reported Monday.

As LeBlanc was arrested, he was knocked to the ground by Parks and Const. Tanya Lawlor. Parks testified that he then found LeBlanc's digital camera and deleted the photo.

According to media reports, Lawlor testified that LeBlanc was not listening to police and resisting their efforts. After the incident, Lawlor said she looked up LeBlanc's blog on the Internet, and found pictures of herself using a baton to ward off protesters, set to the song Kung Fu Fighting. She said it made her feel humiliated. The trial is to continue today.

They must have taken it from the CBC website.

Once again, yesterday the Irvings weren’t in court to cover the story and I might add there’s nothing in this morning paper.

1

I noticed a woman in court sitting beside me. Afterwards, I asked her - What's your name? She quickly answered- I'M ANTI-IRVING!!!

People in the area had a good chuckle on that one.

Many asked - Where's the Irvings? < Noticed I don't say Newspaper reporters? >

The question is why? Now? I know for a certain fact that if the trial had turned against me or another issue that I was charge with?

3

The story would have been on the front page.

I remember when I protest in a tent for six months in front of the legislature. I was protesting the Government to do a study on Ritalin.

It took 50 days for the Irvings to cover the story.

charlesCharles and Brad 003

Hundreds of citizens in the Fredericton area asked me the reason this protest wasn’t in the papers?

I remember one woman showed up with a protest sign for a few hours during my protest and was on the front page the next day.

Personally, It doesn’t bother me if I’m in the paper or not. < Those days are long gone >

My main concern is the way the Irvings are controlling what goes in their papers.

We have no talk shows in New Brunswick and there’s no way to get the message out beside blogging but it’s not everyone who owns a computer.

I bet if I’m found guilty on Friday? The story will be on the front page.

The Irvings are using this way of communication to brainwash the public. They will discredit anyone who they feel is the enemy and that individual is not allowed to write a letter to the editor.

This is very scary stuff!!!

Democracy in New Brunswick is dead when it comes to our Irving Newspapers!!!

I might add that CHSJ Rdio < IRVING OWN > didn't cover the trial also!!!

Pictures 120

New Brunswickers do live in a Hogan Heroes World. We have to go underground to spread our message to the public.

IS NEW SANTA CLAUS IN SAINT JOHN BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE???

Hi Charles

I had a message on my phone today. Santa called and told me that his picture was in the paper (Telegraph Journal) advertising the Big Event.

The problem is they changed to a different Santa last year, a friend of the Mayor's in the city.

They had the best Santa for several years and no other is so more caring and so prepared for such an important job.

The Mayor and Enterprise Saint John made it a money issue but we all know that they spend more now then ever on the new imposter who tries to play Santa. His picture is not real looking at all.

It was a very sad day when they let Santa go without notice. This year they wanted to open the wounds again and rub it in Santa's face and put his picture in the paper and promote the parade. This is false advertisement because the Santa they have in the paper is not in the parade.

The picture in the paper is the real Santa. All I am trying to say is they should not of falsely promoted the parade. Someone needs to explain why they would do something so cruel.

Also you should have permission to use his picture. Santa has rights too. ( Saint John parade was tonight.)

The best news is West Saint John has a parade at 2 pm Saturday Dec 25 starting at Barnhill School on Manawagonish Rd and along Main St and eventually to the Lancaster Mall.

The Real Santa will be there. Hoping someone can get the news out because our paper does not cover much.

N.B. judge blasts Crown's case against blogger
Last Updated: Tuesday, November 21, 2006 | 2:49 PM AT
CBC News

The judge overseeing the obstruction trial of internet blogger Charles LeBlanc criticized the prosecution's case in open court and even wondered aloud why LeBlanc was arrested in the first place.

Judge William McCarroll stopped short of dismissing the case Tuesday, but asked several pointed questions of the Crown, and suggested police officers may have acted inappropriately.

McCarroll studied CBC videotape of LeBlanc's arrest outside a business conference in Saint John last June. The video shows LeBlanc taking digital photos of a rowdy protest outside conference doors, and caught three Saint John police officers pinning him to the ground while he shouted out that he was taking pictures for his internet website. He was later charged with obstruction of justice.

In court, the judge said it appeared that LeBlanc was just off to the side taking pictures when a police officer grabbed him.

"The video speaks for itself. It's very strong evidence, that video," McCarroll said. "He's taking pictures. The next thing is, you know, he's down on the ground with three officers on him."

Police had testified earlier in the week that LeBlanc resisted during his arrest, but McCarroll held up a picture of the police walking LeBlanc peacefully across the lobby of the conference centre. "This doesn't look to me like someone who is resisting arrest."
Continue Article
Police testimony 'inconsistent'

McCarroll said police testimony on Monday and Tuesday morning was inconsistent with what he saw on the videotape, and he wondered out loud why police ignored the masked man standing beside LeBlanc who was an obvious protester.

Crown prosecutor Catherine McNally suggested police arrested LeBlanc because they "didn't recognize him as a media person."

McCarroll replied the officers must have believed he was some sort of journalist, because they admitted to using his blog to get information about the conference in the days prior to his arrest. "The police went to his blogsite to get information," he said.

Tuesday morning, Saint John police admitted to visiting LeBlanc's blog site to obtain information on the Atlantica conference in the days before the event, even though they eventually arrested him partly because they didn't consider him a legitimate journalist.

Sgt. Bruce Connell testified Tuesday that police were concerned about planned demonstrations at the conference, held last June, and visited LeBlanc's website to get more information.

LeBlanc had written about plans by some opponents to attend the business conference and protest, a report police found useful enough to download and discuss.

"You did find some information there, useful to you," asked LeBlanc's lawyer, Harold Doherty, during testimony in the Saint John courtroom.

"Yes, absolutely," replied Connell.
Too 'scruffy' to be a reporter

The arresting officer, Sgt. John Parks, testified Monday that he didn't consider LeBlanc to be a legitimate reporter because he appeared "scruffy" and had an unprofessional-looking digital camera. Parks also admitted to deleting a photo of himself from LeBlanc's camera.

Doherty says LeBlanc did not obstruct justice during the protest, and was just doing his job as a journalist. He says the officers' actions in deleting pictures from LeBlanc's camera deprive him of a full and fair defence because they would show precisely where LeBlanc was standing and what he was doing in the minutes before his arrest.

Doherty says freedom of the press should extend to all journalists, not just those employed with large media organizations.

LeBlanc says Saint John police deleted dozens of photos, but Parks admitted to deleting only one of himself from the camera.

Parks also testified Monday that he had no idea what a blog or blogger was, even though his colleague admitted Tuesday to using LeBlanc's website as a source of information.

Defence attorney Harold Doherty had intended to call witnesses Tuesday afternoon, but changed his mind after the judge's barrage of questions and comments criticizing the Crown. A verdict in the case is expected Friday.
