SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE OR SHE WILL DIE!!!!...By Millie....

Picture 020, originally uploaded by Oldmaison.

Picture 043

I was in the room with her when she received the call and they did tell her they had nothing to tell her.

There was no housing available for her.

I was listening beside her and the lady on the phone was not concerned. I hugged her and said I would try to help her to find a place.

She cannot go on living here because we have stairs, and she is so sick all the time.

This is not the place for a person like her. I called places, but she cannot climb up and down stairs.

She was robbed and I had to call the police. The poor lady had a hard time to talk to the police.

I had to speak for her when she couldn't for she was crying.

I don't know what to do anymore, she is scared, crying and she will have a nervous breakdown if nothing is done. I told her to set up a tent in front of family and community services, then maybe she will get help.

Something has to be done or she will DIE!!

What is becoming of this society? Doesn't anybody have a place with no stairs, safer for a handicapped person, that is affordable for someone who gets $495 a month. Imagine that, her having to go in a tent to try to get more help!! I cannot believe that nothing can be done!! Maybe she should go to the Human Rights Commission. It seems to me somebody should step in!! Does she have a case worker or Family?

Our government ; talking any party any politician has let the people of NB down; this probably happens all over Canada too. But just hold on our people, our sick, our seniors our young people have no where too turn and it has been like that too long.

These are people who use to have services with our mental health; now they are pretty much at their own mercy.

If we see minorities who arrive here in NB treated like this something would be done. Why are not our people who have grown up all their lives not worthy of the same treatment?

We have young people who are educated and unable to get a job that pays more then minimum wages and are struggling on the street but we have foreigners who arrrive and they get special treatment.

Why the double standards for people who deserve respect too. Not all of us have parents, relatives or friends that give us a helping hand.

Thankful thiongs were different when I grew up in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

My children had us and finally with our help they eventually are able to afford to move out after years of assistance. They have full time jobs but that took a long while. Both could not have done it without years of help.

Very disappointed as to how the system works and we will see seniors out there with no one to turn to.

We are a wealthy country but our taxes get wasted on large wages for select expenses for certain people on pensions, large salaries, deals at our expense. Why is NB Power paying high salaries for Management positions that have frankly failed us? Another one why do we pay Weir her wages? We have people like Fowlie who don't deserve another term just to get a full pension. Most of us work a lot longer and will never see a pension that will cover our expenses for existence only not a high living life style. There is something wrong when our society allows the wealthy and the high paying jobs to grow but the little people have to pay more and their wages stay too low to pay for the essentials!

I just wanted to reply to the above. There is no doubt higher level government services get paid very well, as do civil servants. That is not the chief problem. Pension funds are invested abroad and that covers pensions.

The real robber barons are the corporations that run the government. This is money you simply can't even find out about. At least with government services you know how much money is going out. Without NBPower you would be paying twice or three times as much in power-just ask those in Ontario, Alberta and California.

New Brunswick has the worst access to information laws in the country, you simply cannot find out anything about what the government is doing. One quarter of a billion dollars is going to huge corporations, most of which is cutting capital investment taxes in half. Capital investments are things like machines and equipment, if you don't think the new equipment will be modernized technology that ultimately culls the work force then you just don't know very much about the forestry industry.

In other words, New Brunswickers are subsidizing a dying industry while it clearcuts all the forests by doubling wood supply (and ruining any hope for future NB'ers to actually do something SMART with them) and saving tax money in order to invest in technology that will further lay off people.

Here's an interesting idea, do like Maine and tie money and tax credits to employment, so it is worth their while to hire MORE people.

The real problem is NOT the government, the government at least can peacefully represent the people. The problem is the corporations that currently run it. What hope does a politician have of spurning Irving when they know how much money they have and that they own all the press? WHere else does information come from?

Government represents all people not just corporations! So they need to do the right thing! Are we corrupt I think so when the people in power don't do the right thing! Sorry but someone allows the bullies to run the country with our taxes.
Example: Lord and MLA's passed a Bill to make sure Irving our biggest corpororation would be protected so they wouldnot have to pay their municiple taxes. That is just one.

We could spin the mud forever! The right thing could be done but at the expense of the people not the indiviuals who don't want to risk their money, career and so called secure life!

Sorry but many high paying jobs do not represent much in real work; corruption exists and it is time to clean the top down first instead of the reverse. Cleaning house with the poor and the people struggling to get a few dollars to exist is not the way to go. Get rid of most of the positions that are appointed and the back room deals that exist. The smoke has to clear, the sponsorship deal was just one of the many deals.

Someday I would like to see a government run a true business and the money would be spent not wasted on their personal luxuries at our expense.

I think that the time has finally come, that we need to stop squawbling, and yapping about something that is not going to happen until the "Homeless, and the Low-Income residents raise a bit of crapp on our own. Don't talk to me about these stinking roag nations such Afganistan and Iraq where our troops are dropping like flys and getting seriously or otherwise permanently injured for life. They need to come here and help us to fight against an unjust system right here.

For the person who made that last comment, yes we are all going to die someday, but why make it "Sooner" than later. This lady needs help, she's in poor health. You should be more thoughtful than thoughtless, and be thankful that your not in her situation.

People need to bring these things publicly and squabbling is not what we are doing.

Changes can happen but if we keep quiet and don't voice our opinion nothing will change.

If it is not affecting you or your family keep quiet is what I understand.

We pay taxes all our lives and this how we are treated in the end.

Our political representation is just words they do what they want in the end. Lord is promising the world and we should not trust a man who believes we can pay more while his Billionaire friends need a tax break while we have to pick up the "TAB". That means if you can't pay because you make minium wages or less the average workers have to pay again; that is why we are fedup; going further into debt while the wealthy prosper! Great deal for the Billionaires and all who get high income raises at our expense.
