The Air India Investigation
Mr. Speaker, the investigation into this disaster is the longest - and certainly most complex - investigation in the history of the Canadian legal system. The RCMP has been investigating this incident for 19 years with the assistance of our law enforcement partners in Europe, India, North America and Asia. In fact, this investigation continues today.

And the Government of Canada's support of this investigation goes beyond the efforts of the individual departments and law enforcement agencies to get to the bottom of what happened that day and in the time leading up to the tragedy.

For example, in recognition of the difficulty and financial hardship that attending the trial might impose on families of the victims, the Government of Canada paid all of the costs of victims' families' services, transcription, court reporting and judiciary support, as well as courtroom and building security.

We also covered half the costs of legal aid, prosecution, management services, communications and media relations, audiovisual costs, and operating technology.

This was the right thing to do.

These are the two,who got legal aid were acquitted, which astounded everyone.lets say liberal influence

Bagri, now 55, was a Kamloops mill worker and well-known Sikh preacher at the time of his arrest.

"Until we kill 50,000 Hindus, we will not rest," he told a Sikh rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City not long after the Amritsar raid.

Malik, now 58, was a millionaire who owned a clothing company in Surrey and had a hand in many Sikh institutions in that community.(including a friend of liberal party)

So not providing a lawyer for poor or low income persons is unbelievable and not even a democratic action and I have decided I will cast no vote, untill this is done fairly.Having read enough of the stories proving that money buys. There are ontario laywers who can get anyone acquitted period. The period would come after 6 zeros.

Maybe the poor would have more if the poor were willing to work.

Charles, once again, you're making the mistake of equating your experience with Legal Aid New Brunswick with that of every other poor person. It's not a logical argument.

Legal Aid New Brunswick does not have the resources to handle *every* request it gets. Yours was rejected. Others are not. Why can't you understand this?

Well,thats a stupid cop-out.
They had the resources to pay the arresting officers, and the still ongoing work being done by high paid beaurocrates,FOR WHAT?

To put a political control on a noisy citizen?

When you drive by the court houses, who do you see,,,the poor!

It is the poor used to guarantee the thousands of political jobs.

Why is justice still not done in the Kingsclear embarrassing abuse of kids.

Why is justice not done in the largest canadian terrorist act, resulting in the mass murder of all Air India passengers?.

Why has justice not been done in the cornwall ontario massive sexual abuse scandal?

What are the poor,,your pawns?

Apparently the poorest one,is someone who can't multiply minimum wage by 40 hrs,and then subtract the laywers fees for defending oneself against a unjustified charge.Unlike you, most poor persons are willing to accept when guilty
but not when feel innocent.

well thats the whole thing. maybe someone getting charged with a more serious crime such as robbery or sexual assault got legal aid instead of you. maybe you'll get a fine or probation? doubt you will go to Renous.
