A reader speaks out!!!!

It is true Charles has an 'in your face' attitude, but he's become more antagonistic as the House becomes more and more restrictive. If you look at the blogs just before the arrest at Atlantica, and compare them with his earliest ones, you can see why the politicians were getting antsy. That's because he was turning into a real lobbyist for the poor and was keeping his temper in check and writing much better.

However, he has every reason in the world not to disrespect those in power at the legislature. His list of grievances goes on and on.

And to address roomers rights, that is completely wrong that it was the by election. Well, not completely wrong, it was the byelection but it was because Charles had the blog AND was active in the byelection. There have been dozens of by elections and elections in this province, but none have addressed roomers rights until now. And its not like there was no poverty before now.

That's when the powers that be got really nervous, and realized that Charles IS a 'menace'-to them and the people they represent. And thats something that just can't be tolerated so we've seen the persecution increase.

And there's no such thing as 'professional protestor', theres just people who give a shit about their society and are willing to do something about it. To the guy above griping about Charles methods, how about joining the fight instead of month after month talking about how Charles is 'hurting his cause'. That's garbage.

What we need is a few more Charlies, not over educated idiots thinking they know what the poor, and others need. I once told the Mayor of one of our cities to go to the poor area of town instead of walking through the big malls hoping for attention.
Charlie get in their face and we should all do this it may wake up this Government.

Charles is no more "in your face" than the politicians who act like ill behaved first-graders in the legislature, who try to force feed us pablum every single day through their spin doctors and tell us it's good for us, who try to tell us they're doing something for the poor when they don't give a tinker's damn about poverty unless it's election time and it can get them some votes because we know they're in the pocket of business, who don't care about anything else except getting re-elected.

No wonder people are so cynical. No wonder there is a legitimate place for Charles's commentary. When our politicians are so far out of touch with the overwhelming majority of citizens who make less than $25,000 a year (that's the average working wage and we know it's considerably worse for people on income assistance in New Brunswick according to the National Council on Welfare report to be released today), who struggle to survive every single day, who can't feed their kids even though they work two low paying jobs.

When politicians tell us that everything is "coming up wine and roses" I know that Charles will tell us the truth, which is more than what I can expect from politicians and their political hacks who monitor this blog to see what the "REAL" people are thinking and with the intention of trying to destroy Charles's credibility among the poor by criticizing his methods. It won't happen. Not unless they are willing to do what Charles does and that is live with and among the PEOPLE who make up the majority of the population - and the majority are not the ones making $50 - 100 grand a year. Charles leads by example, and it may not be the example politiicans and others in positions of authority and power like because it is not refined and gracious, but it's the example that the majority of people can relate to. The majority being the men and women and children who are not rich, who do not have power and who struggle to survive in this country of so many contradictions, with so much wealth for the priveleged few and so much poverty for the rest of us.

Oh I just wonder who the reader was that spoke out.
Funny they didn't want to give their name.
It's got Tim Smith's name "written all over it" your sidekick there in the south end of Saint John.
Then he probably submits comments to his own stuff.
I wish you 2 clowns would get a real job.

I wasn't going to post that comment but what the heck. I'm sure it wasn't Tim Smith.

Again, there goes another political hack trying to discredit Charles by implying only Tim Smith posts to this blog, therefore attempting to diminish the impact this blog has on political opinion.

Sorry bub. It ain't gonna work. I am not Tim Smith and I like to comment on this blog when I get a chance on my breaks from work. Besides, you seem to overlook the obvious: you insinuate that because I'm anonymous I must be Tim Smith. Who the hell are you? You're anonymous too. Maybe you are Tim Smith? Not likely. Methinks Tim has too much to do these days raising a child who is getting ready for elementary school than to spend his days monitoring Charles's blog like you seem to.

Get a life loser and find something else to do besides hijacking this blog with your mindless drivel. There's an ELECTION to talk about!!

South John by-election was indeed critical for the poor. There is lot of poverty in Saint John Harbour. Dah! What Leblanc did? Nothing. Other than mouthing off.

Yes he posts comments up front which support him and others he does not post at all. Let us face it that he is self-centred kook. He wants attention, that is his whole objective whatever he does.

He has no courage to post all comments. Comments which use respectful language but do point out that he is a kook.

And what do you call that post?? Ahem??

Personally I don't think Charles should post your negative criticisms but he does it because he is trying to be objective and give everyone the opportunity to say whatever they want, including comments from kooks like you. The Irvings wouldn't allow that kind of criticism but he does.

Let's get back to talking about the election fer crying out loud!

I suppose kook's friends are kooks like you. He does not post many comments. It is constantly challenging him that he does post a comment here and there which are not flattering of him.

As long as he gets the attention from kooks like you he will be happy. He does not give a blink to election or anything else. He just needs attention, period, full-stop.

Well enough about Tim Smith, but Charles, tell us this. Several months ago you said no more cowards, it was your top blog, no more anonymous. You're just not credible.
You're not only allowing anonymous comments right and left, you are allowing anonymous readers to speak out!!
Charles you and your cronies should stay out of underground cafes and ice-cream joints and get a meaningful career in life. Your mother would tell you the same thing.
To 1:01 p.m. I typed in a name but it must have gone "anonymous" instead. I never sign "anonymous", and I'm not a "bub" I'm a female.
You seem to know a heck of a lot about Tim Smith. I wouldn't know 2 wits about him, except that I am somewhat aware of his writing style.
He's usually long winded and speaks with a forked tongue.

Ahhhh....it don't matter about the comments. I just blog away let these idiots fight among themselves. < Of course I'm not calling my supporters idiots > but it's funny to see them go at it.

It's only for another four weeks anyway. These people will be long gone but I will continue to do what I do best and that's BLOGGING!!!!

Charles, it sure mattered about the comments when you made it your top story one day with a big picture and everything, "no more cowards," you said. It's just another case where you're not credible. Then you get on here and you don't even address the issue.
MEAN WHAT YOU SAY AND SAY WHAT YOU MEAN.
Marshmallow brain!
