This is suppose to be a time to celebrate New Brunswick Day not the Army!!!

Let them select their own day!!!

This is just my humble opinion.....

Knowing that CFB Gagetown is one of the largest military bases in the world, and knowing that while the members are stationed in New Brunswick they are NBers, and Canadians, I cannot see why you think it strange that they are out in force celebrating our province and country. The problem must be yours!

military belongs on the base not out in our streets! were not in afghanistan!

It's not like they're fighting.

Couldn't agree more with you Charles, and also anonymous.

This is just sick.

They didn't select the day they are invited guests. While you might not like it personally judging by the crowds that show up each and every year to meet the soldiers and take part in New Brunswick day I'd say your a minority. That doesn't mean you can't object, by all means do but don't expect to change any minds. Frankly your opinion and that of the small band of protesters that show up each year and a $1.50 will get you nothing more than a cup of coffee.

Just Passing! You wouldnt think that if you had witnessed what went on in Montreal during the time Trudeau sent the troops into the city! I was there,Young but remember it well! I also Witnessed the way Police (RCMP) were used in St Sauver NB and at Burnt Church! You cannot forget these happenings! It has nothing to do with Law ,maybe order, but mostly is all about control! And I also must ad that the police Today are trained to be more like Military than Peace Officers!

Charles,
The majority of Canadians are proud of our military and their service in Afghanistan and elsewhere and want the chance to see them and give them support.
So why don't you quit your whining and either:
a: shut your mouth
b: pick up a weapon and join them.

I was not in Montreal but I was old enough to know what was going on. You may not agree with what happened but a good many did. But all things considered your examples have nothing to do with what takes place on the green each year in Fredericton. To suggest such simply demonstrates your personal bias towards the military. Now there is nothing wrong with that, its your right to be biased. If its not something you like just don't take in that particular part of the celebrations next year or feel free to join the protesters (if you have not already done so). Just don't suggest that because people do not agree with your point of view their somehow uninformed or not intelligent enough to know any better.

We really have no business being in Afghanistan.

Its good to be proud of ones service to thier country! Military will go where they are pointed and usually wont ask why! I dont support wars based on lies and wouldt pick up arms and fight just because its popular thing to do! Can you point out exactly why we are thier and exactly what we are fighting for?

Supporting the people we have sent to places like Afghanistan and supporting the reasons they are there or the method in which our government chooses to employ those troops are not the same thing. If anonymous 12:06 really cared about the troops he would have the moral decency to at least be honest. While in fact the majority of Canadians ARE supportive of the welfare and wellbeing of those men and women in Afghanistan the majority DO NOT support the action itself or the methods in which this government of ours is pursuing it.
