I told you readers that many people are coming to me with their sad stories. Here's one of them.
Hello Charles,
Here is the article I told you I'd write for your blog, please keep my name anonymous.
On Friday, July 7, 2006, my boyfriend and I wer enjoying a night of drinking in the Tannery. When te bars were gearing down we decided to leave.
On our way out of the Tannery we saw two friends who were playing hand drums, trying to make some extra cash.
We stopped to listen to them play, then at exactly 2:00 a.m. the Fredericton City Police's finest came over and told them to stop playing.
This is a usual occurrence in the Tannery, we know this because we sometimes play the drums there too for extra cash. The police often say "stop playing" with an "or else" tone in their voices.
We have questioned them before about this, and have tried to explain to them that themoney we make is for important things like food, and we make the most of our money aftre the bars close.
However, the police do not seem to understand the fact that not everyone has money in this city, and sometimes you need to go to your fellow human being for assistance in order to survive.
We have noticed over the few years we have been playing outside the Tannery that many of the usual fights that occur aftre the bars close are greatly reduced because people are happy, they're dancing, and having a good time.
On this particular night my boyfriend decided to question the police again about the 2 a.m. shutdown.
They were young police officers and seemed to have an urge to assert their autority. They were standing in the usual police way, with arms crossed, stern looks and ready to pounce at a moments notice.
What struck us as odd was the fact that not one minute after they told our friends to stop playing that a procession of 10 Harley Davidson's thundered by, and the police took no notice of them.
We held up our ams to the police as if to say "Aren't you going to do something about THIS noise?" We approached the police and questioned them on their decision to stop one noise and allow another, much more drowning and annoying noise, to continue.
They sternly and in a very defensive tone told us that we cannot expect them to run after a line of Harley's on the street. I started to wonder if the radios they were carrying were only for show.
We began to question them again, and that's when they got upset with us. One police officer (his name we didn't get) told us he had heard enough from us, and to move on. When we asked if we lived in a democracy, the other police officer said plainly "No you don't live in a democracy, this is a dictatorship."
This statement greatly concern us. If this police officer believes we live in a dictatorship than the actions of the police force in our area are soon becoming clear.
Is this the opinion of one police officer, or are they being trained to think in these terms. It seems lately that this is how they are trained, and how they rule this city. You can't do much in this city without the police taking action and City Hall making up crazy by-laws to make those actions legal.
It seems, to me, that the extreme noise of all these Harley Davidson's in this city is more intrusive and painfully loud than stopping a street performer with a hand drum, or a guitar.
As for us citizens of Fredericton, beware that your constitutional rights under a democratic country are not accepted in this city.

FREDERICTON POLICE FORCE- NO!!! YOU DON'T LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY, THIS IS A DICTATORSHIP!!!
STEPHEN HARPER DON'T CARE IF CANADIAN SOLDIER DIES IN AFGHANISTAN!!!
NEW VENDOR COULD TAKE YEARS TO GET INTO THE FARMER'S MARKET IN FREDERICTON!!!!
Sorry Robert but you’re not allowed inside!!!!
I notice this vendor selling his products from across the streets from the Farmer’s Market Saturday morning.
Being Charles, I had to asked a few questions?
From what Robert tells me he has to be on a waiting list inside the Market. < Which could take years I guess > He pays rent $200.00 per week for his stand.
I bumped into the nice guy that same evening after investigating the Rat issue at the Fredericton Shelter.
He sells nice hot dogs and sausages.
The point here is should he wait so long to get a spot at the Farmer’s Market?
Alos, I wonder if the Fredericton Police Force would arrest the guy for selling his hot dogs on the streets?
THE BIG BANG!!!!
I almost sh@t in my pants tonight. I was watching television and blogging away until I heard a BIG BANG!!!!
It rocked the whole building!!!
I mean really loud.
I felt tike I was in Iraq. I quickly went for my camera and ran outside the door.
I had my shirt inside out and my sneakers weren’t even tied.
Once in the hallway, I forgot my camera.
Once outside everyone was standing around but there was no fire or nothing.
It was transformer that blew up and there was no power for 5 hours.
It was really hot in this building so I didn’t stick around. I just arrived to the building a few minutes ago.
It was hot without a fan. I can now understand in place like Iraq when they say they had no power for months!!!! Can you imagine living in that part of the world?
My apologies to Tom Mann....
I just learned the reason that I was banned from the Legislature and if I would have been in Tom Mann shoes? I would have took the same action.
Only one problem?
It's a big lie!!!!! I sent an email to Nick Brown < Tanker's assistant > asking for a meeting.
I am furious!!!!! I won't go public with this one but I will say that it's because of a government employee who went out on stress leave and my name was mention.
This is very serious stuff!!!! If Tanker's staff don't reply to my email < which they didn't > I will have to go public with this one and that employee will be truly stress out after this one.
I just can't believe how a person could convict a person on here say.
I must remain calm till my court dat on July 25th but if this issue isn't dealt with as soon as possible?
Well? There's nothing worst than a Blogger who's truly upset!!!!
Once again, my apology to Tom Mann and to think that I was going to go to his office in the morning for answeres. I got my answers and I'm not happy at all!!!!
Stay tune!!!
FREDERICTON EMERGENCY SHELTER AND SOUP KITCHEN AREA ARE INVADED BY HUNDREDS OF RATS!!!!!
Lately, I have been approached by many people on the streets about different issues and this was surely the case yesterday at the Fredericton Soup Kitchen.
I was told that in the evenings the Emergency Shelter and the Soup Kitchen are invaded by hundreds of rats.
I never make it a habit hanging around outside the kitchen because it’s a different level of life than mine.
It’s a atmosphere of drugs and alcohol. They hang around in the back and this is not a bad move because it keeps these poor souls in one area.
If they didn’t have a place to hang out? They would be all across the City. It’s their little area and no one bothers them.
Being Charles, I just had to investigate.
I asked a few people and I could tell by the looks on their face that the story about rats invaded the area is indeed true.
So? I decided that at Midnight last night, I would pay the area a visit.
I don’t feel safe in that area but I just had to see it with my own eyes.
It was almost a full moon and I had my camera right in front of me in my pouch.
You never know what could happen if these people knew that I had a camera with me?
They have their own little world and they don’t take kindly of strangers taking pictures of them.
Once there, I noticed 8 of them siting on the ground and they were very quiet.
I walked further and saw a couple.
I asked them - Where’s the rats???
In a matter of seconds, I saw a rat running across the yard.
Is it the garbage bin that's attracts them?
Minutes later, I saw a mother rat running with 2 baby rats following close by.
I stayed there for around 30 minutes and Rats I saw.
Not hundreds but a lot.
The couple was sitting down while I was in the middle of the yard waiting to take the perfect picture.
I was told that the rats were in a small amount tonight.
There were big rats all around and I had a milk cart in one hand while the other was holding my camera. I took this picture and you can clearly see two baby rats.
Just looking for the evidence. The perfect picture. Pretty bad when you wish to take a picture of a large rat for a blog?
I waited and waited but I did manage to get this shot.
The couple left to join the others near the river.
I was all alone while I could hear the many rats jumping behind the fence.
Call me a whimp but I saw or heard enough!!!
I was a little scare just being there alone with all the rats around.
I guess the people who lives in a tent told me that the rats were jumping all over the tents during the evenings.
Very scary stuff!!!!
I chatted with people who has been in the area for years and they told me that this year is the worst they even saw it.
So? Why is the rat population so large this year?
Why?
Is it safe for the people to walk around that area?
Should the Province or the City be concern over this issue?
Or it is ok because it’s only poor people involved?
Someone should investigate this issue.
I guess in the evenings it’s a carpet of rats running around in groups.
Stay tune!!!!

IS THIS LETTER BETTER??? WOULD THE IRVINGS AGREE OR WOULD BRENT TAYLOR BRING THE IRVINGS IN COURT IF THEY PRINT IT???
I'm a fair minded individual and I'm trying to find a compromise here. I will not let this issue go away. I will talk about this issue for years if I can't get a letter printed in the Irving paper.
Brent Taylor reads my blog so here's the new version that someone edite the letter for moi.
I wish to reply to Brent's Taylor views, "Bloggers can take their
messages too far". He claims I was harassing employees at their
workplace, I am not a "legitimate blogger" and insinuates I am a kook.
He claims there is no point in suing me, because I have no money, even though lawsuits can have other judgments besides money.
I was also informed many unionized employees took stress leave for the summer months because of my attitude. Never once have I been approached to stop 'harassing' people. Curiously, no evidence of any wrong doing was ever made public, and the committee which banned me met in private without even giving me an opportunity to defend myself-hardly a fair 'trial'.
He also writes I would 'not come close to meeting the standards set
forth by the MBA'. This is completely untrue. The standards include:
"blogging for more than several months, posting regularly and frequently, and writing posts of some reasonable level of quality." In fact, my blog unquestioning does four of those five, and as for quality, the fact that I am in the highest 1% of viewed blogs speaks for itself. I add that Mr.Taylor's blog has not been updated since February.
His 'evidence' is primarily the often satirical nature of my site.
He states I 'take candid photos, doctor them, and add libelous comments'.
In reality I do not have the artistic capabilities of editorial
cartoonists who essentially do the exact same thing, except they also make humourous overtures about physical appearance.
I should add that I do not do the caricatures anyway, readers of my blog send the pictures to me.
As for the comment about Tom Mann being called a 'bigot' for
supporting my permanent expulsion from the legislature, the definition of a bigot is "One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ."
Clearly Mr. Mann is intolerant of my work, and is extremely partial to his own politics, otherwise he'd be a lousy union leader.
It is not my fault if Mr. Taylor is not aware of the true meaning of the term bigot, and surprising that in his colourful past he has never crossed paths with the term more often.
One thing is certain. I might be banned for life from the Legislature but I will continue to blog my views on political issues.
I may not be there to asked MLA'S questions on issues of day, therefore I will ask them in my blog.
THE IRVINGS WILL ALLOW BRENT TAYLOR TO CONDEMN ANY CITIZENS BUT THE INDIVIDUAL ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FIGHT BACK!!!!
I got a itty bitty problem with the Irving paper.
The Daily Gleaner will not printed my letter of reprisal against Brent Taylor.
This is very scary stuff! This means that Bigot Brent Taylor is allowed to give his opinion on any individual around this Province but that person is not allow to fight back!
I chatted with the Editor of the letters to the editor Friday afternoon. < She’s a sweetheart > I don’t blame her.
There’s someone who is more powerful than her in here.
The Irvings cannot get away with this one.
I was told that they will print my letter if I could write it in a more gentle way. Can someone help me out there? Can someone edit. my letter but my concerns stay the same.
Brent Taylor called me a Kook and I called him a bigot.
The Irvings are saying that he never mentioned my name. My answer- How many bloggers are banned for life from the New Brunswick Legislature?
So, lets see what’s going to happen here. This is not done yet.
If the Irvings will allow a bigot loyal soldier columnist to condemn New Brunswickers and the citizen in question is not allowed to fight back. Well this is old Germany all over again!
Freedom of speech must remain alive.
I will make a complaint to the Atlantic Press Council and the Senate and I will blog this issue till the end of time.
Brent Taylor should be force to resign and I believe that he should be let go from the CBC political panel.
He emailed someone telling them not to print my letter therefore he’s against freedom of speech.
I heard that Brent Taylor wishes to run for political office again under the Bernard lord Team? Can you imagine that one?
Here’s my letter and if you can fix it? Send me an email at oldmaison@yahoo.com.
I added Brent’s column also......
I feel that I have no other choice but to reply to Brent’s Taylor views , June 29, 2006 - Bloggers can take their messages too far
I must admit that I never read brent’s column. I am not interested in his views especially being a former member of the C.O.R. Party. His column was bought to my attention by a reader of my blog.
I am very glad Mr.Taylor shared his views on my situation because he sure knows something that I don’t.
He wrote - Legitimate bloggers are fighting, and winning battles over their accreditation as true journalists.
I do call myself a legitimate blogger because I’m the man on the streets talking to poor people and I did bring a lot of issues to all MLA’s such as roomers Boarding rights.
He claims that I was harassing employees at their workplace.
I also learned that many unionized employees went on stress leave for the summer months because of my attitude? Absolutely not once have I have been approached by the staff to stop harassing people.
He wrote - There is no point in any of them suing this blogger,
I got a question for Mr.Taylor? How can a person be sued for speaking the truth? My blogs are always written with a true message..
Despite the kooks, blogging has become increasingly mainstream.
I take exception to be call - A Kook. I would rather be called a Kook than being a Bigot from the C.O.R. Party any day.
As an Acadian, I remember Brent’s very anti-French speech while running for the leadership in 1992. This is one reason that I don’t read his column.
I might add that Brent is no legitimate Blogger. I just check Brent’s blog. His last update was in February. He sure isn’t a blogger.
The Fredericton blogger banned from the legislature would not even come close to meeting the standards set forth by the MBA.
What standards would be acceptable to Mr.Taylor? Attend a journalist course at Saint Thomas where the Irvings gave one million dollars to train their future employees?
A blogger is the columnist, the editor and the owner. A blogger reports the news but with an opinion.
Down the States, bloggers are treated with great respect.
Mind you, is you get a blogger upset?
Look out!!!!
Because their views goes on the information highway in minutes. I had over 100,000 visitors to my site so therefore I can’t be truly a kook.
Brent wrote The application was not approved, and rightly so.
Maybe Brent believes that since the Irvings owns all the major newspapers in New brunswick. Only Irving employees can apply as Bloggers?
Former C.O.R. MLA’S had a bad habit of speaking out before thinking and true was the case with this one - For instance, union representative Tom Mann wrote this newspaper last week defending the blogger's banishment, and was promptly termed a "bigot."
Now? If I wasn’t a legitimate Blogger? Why would Brent visit my blog? Very good question indeed?
One thing is certain. I might be banned for life from the Legislature but I will continue to blog away my views on political issues.
I may not be there to asked MLA'S questions on the issues of day so therefore I will asks them in my blog.
Bloggling is the journalist way of the future. Weather you like it or not! Bloggers will be around till the end of time.

Bloggers can take their messages too far

REALITY CHECK
When they were popularized over a decade ago, Internet Web pages usually consisted of static, rather boring, billboards of information put up by companies, governments or other organizations. They acted like road signs or business cards - just sitting there.
Now, though, the World Wide Web has become much more dynamic. Web content can be updated instantly, by users who are sometimes on the move using wireless access.
No longer just the realm of big business and government, the Internet has become a popular vehicle for individuals, some of whom have now taken to creating online diaries, or Web logs, of their daily lives and observations.
These Web logs, or "blogs" for short, have been used by everyone from ordinary citizens to prominent public figures like politicians and entertainers. Local MP Andy Scott has a blog, although it has not been updated in almost a month. News reporters covering the 2006 federal election "blogged" while on the campaign trail. (Yes, blog has become a verb.)
In the United States, bloggers have played an increasingly important role in politics. Dan Rather's fall from grace at CBS, starting in 2004, was precipitated and maintained by bloggers, who tenaciously pursued the story of Rather's use of forged military records in attacking George W. Bush while the "legitimate" media ignored the story.
In Maine, earlier this year, blogger Lance Dutson was sued for defamation by the New York ad agency that holds the contract for the state's tourism campaign.
Dutson had exposed irregularities and shed light on some controversial subjects involving the ad agency and its relationship with the Maine Office of Tourism.
In May, after public pressure was brought to bear on the state government and the ad agency itself, the suit against Dutson was dropped.
Legitimate bloggers are fighting, and winning battles over their accreditation as true journalists.
Recently in California two bloggers won a court ruling confirming that they had as much right, under the First Amendment, to protect their confidential sources as did the print and broadcast media.
While some blogs are adding greatly to public discourse and forcing the mainstream media to keep up, the kook factor continues to rear its ugly head.
While serious bloggers go about their business with discipline and ethics, the kooks cast a pall over the whole medium.
Last week our legislature's administration committee had the unhappy task of banning a self-proclaimed blogger from the property of the assembly.
The directive from the sergeant-at-arms identified several grounds for the eviction, including the continued harassment of government employees at their workplace.
This "blogger" feels he has a right, as a journalist, to ply his craft - which apparently consists mostly of taking candid photos of politicians and private citizens and then posting them with accompanying commentary to his Web site - after some of the photos have been doctored and many of the articles laced with defamatory depictions and statements.
For instance, union representative Tom Mann wrote this newspaper last week defending the blogger's banishment, and was promptly termed a "bigot."
Similar libellous terms have been levelled against dozens of other New Brunswickers from all walks of life. There is no point in any of them suing this blogger, however, for he apparently has no assets and, therefore, nothing to lose.
Despite the kooks, blogging has become increasingly mainstream. In an effort to establish a set of principles to which legitimate bloggers would adhere, the Media Bloggers Association (MBA) was created to gather together those involved in the craft. The MBA adopted the following principles to be followed by its members: honesty, fairness, accuracy, transparency, accountability, trust, and, respect for the privacy of private citizens.
From a founding membership base of 22 blogs, the MBA has grown exponentially to now include 295 blogs, with new applications being received steadily.
To become a member of the MBA a blogger must, among other things, "have a demonstrated history of a serious commitment to blogging evidenced by blogging for more than several months, posting regularly and frequently, and writing posts of some reasonable level of quality."
The Fredericton blogger banned from the legislature would not even come close to meeting the standards set forth by the MBA.
He had previously applied for membership in the legislature's press gallery as a reporter.
The application was not approved, and rightly so.
As the phenomenon evolves the press gallery will, at some point, be presented with an application from a blogger that will be worthy of acceptance.
The MBA guidelines are a good start on what test ought to be applied to a blogger seeking to chronicle the political life of New Brunswick as a full member of the gallery.
Until then, both the legislature and its press gallery need not apologize for evicting harassers and disturbers. The MLAs, the public, and the employees themselves must have a safe and secure environment in which to come together to advance their legitimate causes and do the people's business.
Brent Taylor is a former C.O.R. MLA. He writes each Tuesday from Doaktown.
Chisholm Pothier is still doing fine.....
After chatting with the Former Press Secretary of Bernard Lord. I decided to go for my camera. He tried to hide his face with the Globe and Mail but he wasn't fast enough. ..lol...
At least we know he reads a good paper...lol
He's a nice guy.
THE UNDERGROUND CAFE IS RUN BY GUESS WHO???
I have been holding in this little blog.
I must give credit to a group of determine youths.
During these past few months, I heard about this Underground Café.
I really didn’t know where the place was located or what it was all about?
After months of hearing about this place, I finally decided to locate this much talk about location.
You go at the corner of Charlotte and Saint John Street.
You take a left to this building.
Andy Scott told me that he was going to donate a Canadian flag to the building but it never happen.
What a beautiful place but these ugly flag poles takes it all away.
You take this side door and turn left.
You go down these stairs and you’ll be greeted by some very friendly people.
They even have a computer you can use free of charge!!!!!
Mind you..it’s an I-MAC!!!! UGH!!!..lol
You can read at peace in there while ordering a muffin or coffee.
You can also held meetings in that location.
You know what is the greatest part of the Underground Café?
It’s run by young volunteers only!!!!
Can you imagine running a place with people volunteering their precious time to a workplace?
These youths are dedicated to the cause and they should be congratulated for a job very well done.
You want to held a meeting somewhere?
During the weekend they sometime have music talent in the Cafe!!!
Who are these sexy folks? That guy in the centre is drop dead gorgeous!
Go at the Underground Café for a visit or have a private meeting over a cup of coffee!
Who are these sexy folks? That guy in the centre is drop dead gorgeous!
It’s worth it!!!
