No one would disagree, itis beautiful but they can write things off and all is well in Irvingville. Happy that through the years they did a few things but for the people right now we need to have some tax concessions on fuel, oil and gas; we should have a dividend that gives the taxpayers a break for all the health risks and many more problems we must bear to live here in Saint John. Also we should try to help the people here not gouge them as it has been happening over many years. We have a resource which the Irvings think they own and they should pay a good share of the harbour clean UP.
Just look around who has a lot a hugh businesses who have been enlarging on our waters and polluting; just look at the pulp mill they a lot of crap in the water, even things that are toxic. If you or I just build a house ON OUR LAND near the water it would be torn down and yes how many building permits have they applied for and paid for? Mistake to let Irving to own all land near the water and he seems to have different rules to pollute. Twenty years ago I questioned why are they giving things away for a dollar all the time; the picture is coming full circle or I should say nightmare.
Pulp mill was tiny now it looks like a little village; they should be helping to pay for the infrastucture, water has not been free for the average person. ( What about our forests?) Irving uses all our resources are we seeing a monetary gain or has the government jusy been allowing one family to prosper. We are thankful for so much but now they are are billionaires on the way to be trillionaires where are our few dollars.
Yes we the politicians, Prime Ministers, Premiers, MLAs and the Mayors and Councillors and our trusted friends and some of us naive people have believed that we would have a better life so now all we are asking for is a piece of the pie and a few crumbs. That is not too much to ask for but we are still being gouged everyway they can. If we don't bill the Irvings for water and for services how are we the taxpayers going to be able to subsidize everything because we can't keep up. At the end of the day we will be a ghost town no matter what plans are in the making.
If you don't have a large base of money comming in the ones who do have the money will not stay here.
Besides the Irvings know where to bank their money where we can't tax them. The seniors here don't get the breaks and can lose everything; money and powerful people are the only ones who will get respect.

Yes and it did cost alot of money; isn't it nice to have the cash, most of us don't and never will as long as we have the extra taxes to pay.
Sorry but all tax deals hurt and someone has to pay! Since they have cash they can do as they want and the government okays the deals.
