New Brunswick Premier Lord rallies party, pans Liberal proposal

MONCTON, N.B. (CP) - Premier Bernard Lord used his nomination convention Tuesday night to rally his candidates for the Sept. 18 election, and to attack a campaign proposal made by the Liberals.
"We are optimistic about the future of New Brunswick," Lord told the more than 800 people who attended the noisy rally at Moncton High School.
"We know that our best days are ahead, and we know that New Brunswick has great potential. We've been working for seven years to develop that potential. We've moved this province forward, but we're not done yet," he shouted.
As the crowd chanted "four more years," Lord said he wanted another mandate to continue his work for families, health care and education.
Unlike his nomination convention in Moncton-East in 2003, Lord made no campaign promises during Tuesday's rally.

I am sure he needs a Homing Pigeon fight about now; desperation and promises are at his highest point for now.
